Hey jess
In regards to EQ2 software - I think you will find the majority of ppl use innerspace + keyclone (innerspace is required due to lock forward issues)
Pyro has a guide here in regards to setup
Keyclone has a once off cost (pretty cheap when you consider the amount of effort put into it) but something in the back of my head says innerspace has a recurring cost - so do your research first
The EQ2 specific wiki also lists some other guides which you may find useful (down the bottom - software setup guides)
As mentioned - HKN is another option but requires a fair amount of scripting which may not be what you are after when reviewing your OP
On the other side of the coin, there is always hardware boxing (vetra, et. al., which is how I am setup) but it is pretty expensive if you're just having a play with boxing
Good luck and welcome to EQ2 boxing!
