ok. we're a week out from the conversion date, and I'm going to open up what I've been working on and let you guys help me find bugs.


Your passwords won't work, you'll need to reset them. You'll need to fix your Signatures, re-upload your avatars and reset up anything you had in your profile.

PLEASE take a few minutes and at least do this and report back the all clear, or let me know where you had issues. If you could poke around and post to a few threads (it's a dated database I know) just look around and see if you come across anything that breaks. I'm especially interested in our German friends making sure the German templates are all in place and working.

We've had some DNS issues with the server, so you may have to edit your hosts file to get to the site. To do this, open up C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and add this line:

74.50.27.105 new.dual-boxing.com

Make sure you save the file as hosts and NOT hosts.txt

Please let me know if you run into anything strange.

I'm especially interested in our German friends making sure the German templates are all in place and working.

German templates ... where can I activate those?
Everything is in english (not that I got a problem with that) whether or not I create a new thread or what ever I try to do.

Another question regarding http://new.dual-boxing.com/forums.php - shall I already start converting stuff or will this database be replaced with a newer one?

I'll check on the german templates and get back to you. Don't change posts, anything in this database will be trashed cause we'll import a fresh copy of the database friday/saturday.

Did that too, no dice.

I'm not sure then, I have to edit hosts at home to get to it, but not at work. The hosting company told us there was a DNS issue, but their hosting panel doesn't use your typical naming conventions, so I'm rather hesitant to go fiddling with DNS settings.

There are 2 German templates, I'm not sure of the difference. You can select which language by going to User CP -> Edit options -> The very last option is Forum Language.

Ah cool - the informal (du) and the formal (sie) version - it's pretty good - the only downside is that the graphics like the "new topic" button are not translated - if that is the template we're going to use I would like to receive the PSD file if there is one so I can edit those and give them back to you to upload them.

The images were supposed to be translated, rather, it came with translated images.


Edit: there we go, Buttons should be in German once the user selects one of the 2 templates.

Ok, reset my password and logged in - noticed a few stange things...



1. Can't upload or change my avatar - can change my profile pic however.

2. Some of the options look like they are appearing in German? The option to rate a thread reads "Thema bewerten" Under the Edit Options section in the User Control Panel, the heading for the editor options is listed as Verschiedene Einstellungen.



Few questions - will there be a way to change the color scheme of the forums? Also, the sticky threads look just like normal threads (apart from the word 'sticky' in front of them). Is there a way to make them stand out more?
