Ok, reset my password and logged in - noticed a few stange things...



1. Can't upload or change my avatar - can change my profile pic however.

2. Some of the options look like they are appearing in German? The option to rate a thread reads "Thema bewerten" Under the Edit Options section in the User Control Panel, the heading for the editor options is listed as Verschiedene Einstellungen.

Few questions - will there be a way to change the color scheme of the forums? Also, the sticky threads look just like normal threads (apart from the word 'sticky' in front of them). Is there a way to make them stand out more?

Are you getting any errors trying to upload an avatar etc?

I'll have to look at the phrases and make sure the german templates didn't overwrite the EN ones. There will not be a changeable color scheme, to give users the ability to change a site's them is a developmental nightmare. because you have to replicate all your changes for each theme you have. I'll see about making the stickies stand out a bit more, for now, there's just like any other posts. which is how just about every other forum software out there manages them. WBB seems to be the exception on this.

sorry, i don't mean to pile on.... just had the time to go through this today.

items to be tweaked for the new site:

1. wysiwyg editing is not enabled by default
2. images are not shown in posts by default (shows the link instead)
3. avatars are not shown by default
4. signatures are not shown by default
5. not able to include an image in signatures (current setting: allow image BB code NO)
6. various profile details are not pulled over (IM onfo, home page url, location, etc)
7. cannot seem to set the avatar, although i can set the profile picture (unsure of difference)
8. under 'user cp/edit optons', all the check boxes are unset by default
9. no ability to resize the message edit box
10. i'd request 'user cp' be changed to something a bit more intuitive ('My Profile' would be in keeping with current)
11. the MMORPG section seems to have lost its hierarchy
12. copyright notice should be 2007-2009 and be 'all images and posted content'
13. i'd suggest the image used for 'you have posted on this thread' be a bit more obvious. maybe green or something (helps when you are trying to follow up)
14. dual-boxing graphic needs to be on top of all pages
15. unable to embed youtube/video content (any other embeds possible?)
16. the navigation bar visible on the portal page disappears when you go to the forums (might be nice to have - optional)

i would also request a bit of color somewhere beyond the various shades of blue. some reds and yellows would liven it up a bit.

Yeah it is. This biggest thing is how the stickies blend in. I'm still tossing ideas around about this.

6. This is working as intended. Users will have to reset this info.
7. I've tried a few different avatars and have no problem, needs more testing so we can find out what the error is.
9. You can resize by clicking the up / down arrows in the top right box of the wwsiwyg editor

10. I'm not terribly worried about it for launch. Subtle differences. There's going to be a bit of a culture shock when people see the new site, cause it's very different.
11. This is the importer getting confused, I'll fix it on the launch import.
12. We can't claim copyright over "All images and posted content" But updated the years. This will also have to be fixed on the launch data.
13. Subtle differences, I really want to get a feel for how people are seeing the new site. There's gonna be some QQ, and some things people are just going to have to live with, but if it's something that really is an issue, we'll look into fixing / modding it.
15. Added [youtube] BBCode, but requires JUST the video ID instead of the URL. example: . And yes we can do other embeds if they're in a similar format. Something for after launch.
16. The navigation bar in the header is still present.

Moving this out to the public so we can get some more hands on deck testing this. Please feel free to report any errors you come across + steps to replicate the errors.

This is OLD data, we know, we're much more worried about functionality right now.

Any non-constructive criticism will be nuked from orbit, we're mainly worried about anything that doesn't appear to be working / working as intended.

I just went through alot of this when I rebuilt my site using vBulletin (I assume thats what your doing) at http://knightsofshadow.org and all this stuff is pretty fresh in my mind if you need any help.

I cant seem to hit the site either. I flushed my DNS and tried my work comp and had the wife try the home computer. No luck

Yeah, we're using Vbulletin. I'm doing good atm, but I appreciate the offer, if I hit a wall I may give you a shout.



As for not being able to get to the site, yeah, it's kinda..... we have some DNS issues and our host doesn't really want to help or explain their wierd DNS terminology. So we're kinda at it's mercy atm.
