    Default Monitor recommendation

So, I decided to move from my current vertical setup (with two 22" monitors mounted above my main 28") to a side-by-side setup.

For reasons I won't bore you with, I actually want a new monitor for this rather than moving one of the existing 22s.

So I went shopping here in Frankfurt and couldn't find a SINGLE 22, 23 or 24" monitor that can be swung around into portrait mode! Not one. I was blown away.

Can anybody please recommend - by brand and model number - a decent monitor that can be swung around between portait and landscape modes?

At least then I know exactly what to look for!

The problem I'm trying to solve is that I want more situational awareness, and I'm going to get that far more from having the four drones alongside than I current do from having them "above" me. I've tried 4+2 on the 28" screen and even with PiP that doesn't really work for me either, and space dictates that I have the new monitor in portrait mode.

    TIA.

The HP w2408h has this capability, though don't expect the crisp colors and razor font clarify of the better panels. It also tends to oversaturate the colors and the off-axis viewing isn't that great. Still, it's an inexpensive 24" rotatable panel.

    Thanks!

The other ones I found with a bit of Googling are the Iiyama ProLite B2403WS and Benq G2400WT. Does anyone have any direct experience of those by any chance?

I thought all good LCD's rotated. I have only had Dells and they all did it. I love my 240X (put in year). Lots of inputs, features and good picture. Plus I trust them wih return policy and warranty. Just my 2copper.

i bought 2x hp W2207h a while back and the do the job, one you find the correct viewing angle.

one of my friends just looked for a pair of screens that had vesa mount capability and put them on different monitor stands after rotation

My 28" is a Dell, Electron so I generally agree that they make a decent monitor.

Mike, I did consider that but I have limited space available, so a mounting bracket - even a desk-edge one - is out of the question. It needs to be free-standing, unfortunately.

My options at the moment are one of the recommended HPs or an Iiyama B24 (http://www.iiyama.com/en_GB/Product/.../2/product/162). I'll decide over the weekend and then get shopping!

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I can recommend either the Samsung Syncmaster 245T, which has a very good viewing angle because it has an S-PVA panel.

Hmmm. Not bad. But I don't really see that working in Portrait mode, and it definitely won't fit on my piddly little desk here!

Now, when I finally go back to my UK home, I'll have all the space I could ever need there so maybe then....

I've gone with the Iiyama I mentioned earlier. It'll be here on Wednesday / Thursday apparently. For some reason the HP has a longer lead-time through my supplier here. *shrug*.
