Default Upgrading - sooner than I expected

So, yeah. I jumped into boxing, didn't really ever plan on it, so my old PC was not built for it. Core2Duo 2.66GHz, 3GB DDR2 800MHz, 2x nVidia 8600GTS 512MB cards in SLi - overall, I've loved it. It's played all the games I've wanted and then some, and could handle 3x WoW all day long. But, I want to hop up to 5 and just didn't want to spend a few hundred for a minor upgrade.

There's my build. Haven't ordered all of it yet, but have started. I should have it all by the end of August up and running . Didn't include a few things that I already have (optical drives, pretty much). I can't wait to get this sucker. I'm dying of anticipation already.

Just downloaded Windows 7 64-bit today. Been using 32-bit since my current pc doesn't need 64. With my current spare parts, I'll be able to have 5 seperate instance of WoW, each on it's on SATA 3.0gb/s HDD with no issues and more total storage space than I hope I fill up (though, I'll do it probably...)

The only thing I'm debating adding is another monitor. I need to mod my current / get a new computer desk so i have more room. I currently have a single 19" wide LCD and a 32" HDTV that I'm using. The tv has to sit on a table a few feet away so it's not the most convenient thing, though It works great, could do 4x 800x600 windows on it easy.

6G of RAM is quite low?

most people are running with 8 and quite alot using 12. you've def. got options if your using ddr3.

Also the drives wont read/write at 3 gig or even 300mb a second. I believe what they advertise there is the theoretical limit of sata ii with zero bottlenecks.

Yeah, 12GB lol. I figure 6 should be fine, since I can do 3 on 3GB with no problem, but I wanted to be sure to have that (if nothing else, for bragging rights lol).

I know the actual transfer rate really isn't going to be that fast for the drives, but it's a noticeable difference from an IDE drive or something, just saying.

And tyy Huwa, I know I definitely will.

    Nice spec

I love that case, I have two of them, wish I had bought more when they were on sale at Fry's for $99.99

If you already have a few HDDs, how about swap the two on your sheet for an SSD and place a symlinked copy of the /DATA folder on it.

Well, a big thing for me is storage space. I currently have damn near 2TB filled. lol

The SSDs, I just don't think that $400 is worth the performance for that. I can't say I have any issues right now running 3 off 3 different SATA drives, so I'd think 5 on 5 drives would be just as sound. The biggest part of why I need to upgrade is my processor and memory. I'm maxing out the CPU sometimes, even with maximizer set to limit the background ones to below 30fps (keyword is sometimes) and I know I need more than 3GB of memory for running more than 3 instances of WoW since I use about 2.6GB running 3 w/ other stuff open.

I could've gotten away with a much milder upgrade, but I figure why not just go for it, you know. I'm starting a new job next week that pays $4 more an hour than my current position (which I've been doing fine with), so this is my present to myself for getting out and grabbing something.
