    Default How come 40+ is so damn boring?

    First of all I have no RAF on my toons. Never have, never will, unless I decide to 10-box someday.

    Since I decided to change my original plan for mixed team, I switch my mage (already@70) to hunter, and I was also forced to change my prot paladin to different account because it's best to keep all tank chars on 1 account rather than spreading them around. Of course since my pala was "only" lvl 40 and my hunter was at ~27, and they were both on wrong accounts, I wasn't gonna pay for any account transfers. So I started new belf pala and orc hunter.

    #1st night: First night I leveled both of them to ~8 lvl seperately and was fed up with all this low xp running around.

    #2nd night: I got to RFC. Started boosting with my boomkin. Boosted my toons to around lvl 13, and still was really disappointed on how slow progress i was making... (Also did couple of class quests afterwards)

    #3rd night: Then I got my toons to SFK. That place can be good place to boost if you have fast run speed as i had. (+30% in cat form can really make a difference) Didn't take too long to level them to lvl 20. I was pleased with the progress i was making.

    #4th night: Next night i moved my toons to SM and boosted them right to lvl 30. XP just kept coming in. If only it wasn't for those allies f*king up my boost route...

    #5th night: I continued with SM. It didn't take too long to reach lvl 35. Even 'tho it's good to boost your toons to ~40 in SM, I felt it was my time to move to on...

    First i ran them into Sunken Temple. WHAT A HORRIBLE IDEA THAT WAS!!! Sure, you get great xp from clearing that 1 room with all those mob packs (takes <5min), BUT other than that it sucks! All those tiresome runs around the circles fail since most of the mobs evade and run back to their places. I have tried to "master" ST before, but still haven't found any good boost route. Only way to really benefit from ST is if you have paladin or dk as tank and you can cast AoE spells that keep mobs from losing agro.

    Ran them into ZF, was happy and eager to level them as fast as i could. I tried 2 different tactics. First i ran around ZF colleting all mobs that i could and blast them down next to the entrance. It's fast way to collect them but you lose a lot of XP and there's always a risk of getting killed. Even on my best pull rounds i only got ~1/3 XP compared to fully cleared ZF. And since it's so fast you will also run into instance limit.

    For me it was best to just run around and cast insect swarm on everyone i could see, occasionally cast starfall just to speed things up, and of course use typhoon as you get bored.

    That night i leveled my toons to lvl 44. Just 1 full clear away from lvl 45 and no quest completed yet... From my experience i can say this: If you are a druid with travel form then it is more efficient to clear ZF rather than ST!

    #6 night: Got my toons to lvl 45 and I was off to Stratholm. So far I have only tested my limits on how much i can pull at once. Need to setup clickboxer for easy dispells and heals first. Can really come in handy at this point. But for me it seems really low XP. Does the large quantity replace the quality (xp/kill)? :P I really don't want to run back into ZF. I've seen some ppl boost at BRD/LBRS. Are those any good? What I remember, at least BRD has some pretty nasty mobs that can ruin your day...

    LBRD is doable, but you won't be able to pull the place in one go, not easily. It's a labrynth, and too many spots where your team can get whacked off a cliff.

    BRD has some areas that can be good for mass pulls, like the highway leading towards the general, but again, it's not going to be one or two pulls, you'll have to do lots of small pulls.

    BRD is a PITA if you try to do large pulls, most of the mobs in there will snare you, or have some really odd leashing. Small pulls are great if you know your way around there.

    I notice this too on my last set of teams so I think Blizz nerfed the xp in Strat or I'm just bored.

    Another benefit of boosting is you can level your lowbies Enchanting profession

    ST isn't so bad if you use a paladin to drop rank1 consecration behind you to damage the mobs and keep them on you. This prevents them from rubber banding back to their spawn points. Starfall would work I guess.

    I switched to ST at 35 on my current team of boostees. It's horrible so far. Yeah, they get more XP/mob than they did in SM, and it continues to go up as they level since the mobs are 49-50 in ST.

    Sure, I can clear the "dragon wing" super fast, but then I hit the instance limit and have a long lockout timer, so I've taken to looting and skinning with my booster to deliberately slow down.

    Problem is, in SM Cath I was getting 60% of a level per run, whilst hugging the reset timer closely. Now I'm still hugging the timer closely but getting only 33% of a level per run

    Almost @45 though, at which point I'll head off to the fun times known as UD Strat boosting. Gotta learn to really watch out for the Eye of Naxxramas emotes!

    The Eyes aren't too bad. After one run you know exactly where they are. Plus they only spawn 2 easy gargoyles.

    Easy for my 80...not so easy on the two naked 45's

    I'm sure I will learn exactly where they spawn by trial and error. I thought of leaving my pet on Stay and Aggressive (I'm boosting with a hunter), but everytime I attack something with him set on aggressive he comes trundling on over to join my fight, then resets back to his 'Stay' spot. So he's not much of a guard to the lowbies if he keeps abandoning them because he thinks I can't handle a fight on my own...

    40+ is boring, because the game is the same thing over and over, just in new places.

    If you could level 50-60, then 20-30, then 70-80, then 10-20 etc, doing each 10 level bracket before you got to do level 80 stuff, but in any order...

    It wouldn't be that 1-40 is fun and exciting while 40-80 sucks.

    It would be, the first bit is good, because its a new team and all.
    But eventually, its the same old shit after more of the same old shit.

    At least leveling in warcraft is so much easier then say...
    Lineage 2, beyond 20th... or the old Everquest with hell levels...

    40-55 is great for questing, imo :P

    in any case... when I was doing RaF I did 1-10 by hand, 10-20 in sfk, 20-40 in sm, 40-55 in BRD, and 55-60 in Ramps.

    However, if you're a multiboxer and only doing 2 accounts... 40-55 would be best spent in feralas, hinterlands, and felwood.

    [edit]: and to the contrary... 20-40 are the worst levels imo because the zones just suck... when you get past 58 you get to experience really fun questing areas... it has nothing to do with monotony... it has everything to do with quality.
