Can someone explain to me the point of Twitter?

like texting on your cell phone. you can read it when you are ready, unlike a voice call you both have to be availible and twitter is just open texting to anyone who wants to read your tweeting

Heh, kinda what I was going to say. Twitter is like a blog but super-micro-extra condensed without all those annoying things like pictures, formatting, paragraphs and such.
