    Default Seperate Controllable Groups?

Hi everyone, first post to these forums. I've learned a lot about multiboxing here, and currently have a group of 4 in outlands. It's been an extremely enjoyable experience for me, and I would like to thank everyone here for all of the information they've shared to be able to play in this unique way.

To the point...right now I'm using Keyclone on two machines. My main is on one box, and the three slaves on the other. My main machine is quite old, and I'm looking to replace it soon. I've been looking at some options, and one thing I'm thinking about is integrating this coming upgrade into a future boxing project, thinking maybe 10 man (one can dream.) One possibility that appeals to me is using a 2-4-4 setup, with a main box contorlling two toons, and two other boxes to control four slaves each. I can have high detail on the mains, and hopefully have less lag overall.

The potential issue I see with this though, is what happens if I want to run two 5 man groups simultaneously, say for dailies? One toon each on the main machine would be a master, with each slave machine being dedicated to one master. Would it be possible with keyclone to seperate the key strokes between groups depending on which master has focus or in some other way? Or would all keystrokes be passed to each instance of wow no matter what? I've searched as best as I could here, but haven't found this particular issue addressed. Any insight or ideas would be much appreciated!

This is doable, you'd need to set up keymaps though, so that keys are being sent to DPS group1, tank group1, healer group1, DPS group2, tank group2, healer group2. ANd you'd need seperate methods to follow and assist. so you can swap to that groups main and move them, or have them follow your 1st group main to move. Keymaps alllow you to send keys that do nothing on a WOW that doens't have a keymap for it. So you can send Shift + 1, and have a keymap that tells the second group to press 1 (or any other key), So group 1 that doens't have anything bound to Shift +1, ignores the keys, but group 2 acts on it.

    Hi,

I'm new to the forums, so bare with my answer lol.

I don't believe you can do that with keyclone. But you can maneuver using other methods.

I run a 10 man, and when I try to swap masters it can be tricky. I allow keys to be sent to all instances of wow, and I use Shift function to swap my 1-10 action bar depending on my leader. Therefore, my first actionbar is Shift-1, which has bound keys on all accounts, shift-2 is bound for group 1, and shift-3 is bound for group 2. That's the easy part. The hard part is when you start using alt/ctrl functions bc with a 10 man, you will start to run out of action slots.

You have any particular hardware that might benefit? or just standard keyboard mouse? Bc things like x-keys, g11, g15, nostromo pads and multiplexers can make it much more controllable.

    answer: yes

run two keyclones on your main machine (make sure to CHECK keyclone/settings/misc/able-to-run-multiple).. set each up for 5 boxing. when you mouse over one main... that group will get the key presses. arrow over the other main, and the second group will get the key presses.

keep in mind, the wows for each keyclone can be scatter across numerous machines. if you main box can run 4, then put the 2 mains, and 2 alts on it... put a main and an alt in each keyclone... then run keyclone on the other machines... linking them all together after setting the local machine up. (if that makes any sense)

if you want to get crazy, you can use a keymap and control all via one keyclone... but since you are ok with mousing over the 'main' for each group, i won't get into it (ask if you want to know)

also, be aware of the port number each keyclone grabs. they cannot be the same and will auto-increment to the next port if blocked. the port number will be on the titlebar and is configurable under keyclone/setup/general

let me know how it goes,

    Rob

    Hey Everyone,

Thank you all for your responses. To Svpernova09 and Sbrowne55. I had considered getting trixy with keymaps and bindings, but at the thought of implementing all of it, well...my eyes began to bleed a bit lol. I think it would just be too much for me to map out and keep everything straight (and still be able to work when I would want to raid with them.) Given I have some choice in choosing a new computer, if I had to go this route I would keep it simpler by segregating the groups by hardware instead (say two 5-man boxes.)

Keyclone, your answer makes perfect sense to me, and am glad to hear. From my limited windows programming knowledge, I figured keyclone would only distribute to wow's it was 'aware' of, but was leary if a second keyclone would grap the keypresses anyway and distribute them out. And it seems from your response, I can mix and match on the slave machines too, (say to swap group members for whatever reason) as long as I keep the ports straight so each keyclone 'net' sees five wows or whatever I might want to try. This does open up more possibilities for hardware, and would keep me from painting myself in a corner for future flexibility.

    Again, thank you everyone!

Depending how you set up your assists.. this can be relatively easy.

Do a forum search for the "No Focus Manifesto".
If one of your groups has Toon A, B, C, D, and E as their target groups.
And the other group has F, G, H, I, and J, as their target groups.
Your big button then would have each group follow their appropriate leader.
You could even go with a combo big button, for controlling all 10.
