4 box finally dinged 70, now need refinement

Hi long time lurker to these forums, I thought I'd share my current situation.

So I have 73 prot pally (recently respecced from holY, gear is great for aggro, pants for def), and raffed 70 ele shammy, fire Mage and balance Druid on 1 pc with 2 gb ram. Was a tad slow hehe.

Plan is to upgrade to 64 Bit vista or 7, add 4gb and head to Iceland. I'm planning on transferring a 72 lock to 5th account. Now following super's advice of dedicated healer, what is more preferable, Druid or shammy? Vista or 7? And finally 6 gb or 8?

Not sure about the vista or 7
shaman can do a lot of aoe heals but druids are a lot more mana efficiant.. the only problem with druids, is there is more clicking that goes on. with shamans there is just heal.. heal..riptide..

o and def. get 8gigs. its so cheap now its worth every penny

If you have the gold, dual spec both the druid and the shaman, hell you could make the pally holy and the druid feral too if you wanted to change it up)

From what i've read, Druids have to be very proactive and roll a lot of hots to be mana efficient. They need to be casting heals before anyone takes damage. Shaman can be reactionary, only casting heals whenever dmg has been dealt.

Go with win 7. I noticed a immediate improvement when I went to it. Not to mention it's free so no loss. Just not worth buying 64bit vista right now. Have to say it's one of the first window's I'll gladly pay for when it releases.

Is windows 7 easy / fast to set up? I think it's a clean install after vista 32 bit eh.

Shammy holy sounds good, shame he's myy highest dpser of the 3.

I think I'll get an extrA 4 gig this week, And try a go on windows 7 on Thursday. Does symlinking work on 7?

Symlinking works fine. Setup wasn't to bad. I set it up so I could boot to old OS if i wasnt happy but honestly haven't booted up in vista at all since.

Windows 7 RC was the easiest and fastest setup I've ever done for any Windows OS. I think I installed it and was browsing the internet in less than 30 mins this last time. Plus, I definately noticed better system performance when boxing 5 chars than I did with Vista. :thumbup:

I have a Tree and a Shaman as main healers in two different groups, and really, I wouldn't be able to able to say which one is best.

The druid is less stressing, I think, with all the Heals Over Time. As Ogloo mentioned it, the Shaman tends to burn mana much faster, but comes with a nice set of tools with his totems. Tough choice.

About RAM : get all you can.
I don't know 7, but I am quite happy with my (light installation of) Vista.

Ok I can safely say win7 is genius. I made a partition on 2 nd hdd, installed and everything worked! Transferred a toon to 5th account, and instances/shattrath are smooth. Now thought I'd share my current config

got pally spam macro on keys 2,3 and 4. Got dps spam macros on the 1,3 and 4, boomkin on 1 and 3 only. This allows 4 to be used for tranquility

Now the reason I have effectively 3 same dps keys is to allow the resto shaman to heal Tank at different intensities ie

key 2
/castsequence ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lesser healing wave

key 3
/cast lesser healing wave

key 4
/castrandom riptide, healing wave etc...

anyone else doing this or suggestions?
