Looking for some guidance/advice

Ok, so I have recently moved up for 5 boxing from 3 (having leveled 3 shaman to 60 fairly fast), and I'm trying to work out a group that I'd enjoy for instances, yet would still be practical.

My first thought was to just go with Pally / 4 shaman. But it just seems like I'd get a little bored with that.

I next thought i'd use two of my level 60 shaman, and just throw a pally in there and add a hunter/lock and mage/lock into the group.

So that is my first problem. do i go with hunter and mage? or mage and lock? or hunter and lock?

Next I decided I'd like to try out DK tanking. So my next questing is; how would a DK tank go in groups with resto shaman, ele shaman, hunter and a mage? (or the other two combos).


So basically three decisions, any advice would be most welcome.


ps. I will be leveling my groups as 5x <class> to 60, then putting them together. I don't really want to level all 3 lots of dps and then work it out at 60. So thought I'd ask before I got far.

Personally I'd go for a Mage for water and portals and a Warlock for summons, makes life so much easier

I am typing this on my iPhone because Im in a road trip, so I'll try to keep it short and pardon my grammar.. First of all Its important to note that the paladin is a great tank and I would stick with that as your tank, then have 2 shamans for totems, a Druid for increased crit and the extra heals, he can be dps or heals you would have to choose between one of the shamans healing or the Druid. Then I would have a Mage or lock, personally I would go for the Mage because of ports and the food, and if u have ever boxed u would know foodx5 costs a lot. Also mages can give intel which I like. If I had to make a mixed team I would do this, but If you don't want the Druid I would do Mage priest, the priests buffs and aoe heals help a lot

I havent tried DK tanking but it seems alot of people have some great fun with it.
Ill let someone else field that one ;]

One thing i would throw in ~ if you going to level groups you might think about leveling a mixed group.
There is a bigger learning curve to running a mixed class than it seems at first.

Leveling a mixed group to 60 you will be able to roll right out of the gate with your ideal group.
Otherwise i would expect a lot of wipes before you got comfortable with the different play style.

All of your groups sound appealing ~ hunter mage might be faster gearing up with no drop competition.

You already have 3 shaman (make 1 resto) so you need 1 DPS heavy and 1 Tank. I chose lock simply because of the following:

Pro's

(1) Online DPS meter 25 man Ulduar

I made total DPS and average of 6 long range DPS class and lock leads followed by mage

(2) Lock summon stone - with this you only need 3 flying mounts and just summon the other 2 anywhere you want.

(3) Crowd Control

(4) Pet, DOTs and AOE

(5) Great for PVP


CON's

(1) Cloth (where Hunter, Druid and Shaman have the advantage)

(2) No food and water (Though you have 3 shaman for hp/mana regeneration)



Now If you wanted to make your shamans DPS then get a druid for healing and another druid for tanking. When your guild needs 5man in raids, your 2 druids can shift to boomkin for a 5 man long range DPS team.



DK tanking
I have both DK and Paladin and you can check a lot of thread with regards to this matter. The advantage of having a DK tank is you deal more damage and your DPS team will deal more damage from Ebon Plaguebringer, Pet and Army of the dead and good enough magical defense. Problem is since Day 1 of Wotlk, Blizzard has been strucking this class with the nerf stick particularly in tanking area because a lot of people are complaining how OP it was not considering that this is a Hero Class so it should be that powerful. But if I where to choose I will stick to paladin. Paladin has shield and gives a lot of buffs and support. It has some OHSHIT buttons and really good in handling threat.
