Have to totally agree with Asg - for uber-pps, hit the RoK dungeons for masters and sell to the highest bidder. I am in the same situation where I have made many-many Mithrils (Mithrils = 1000pp) purely from speed-masters farming the old RoK dungeons - so much so I have no idea what to spend it on anymore (and that is the honest truth). Masters sell for anything from 30pp to 150pp (ppl tend to bawk at 200pp on my server) - on average, I get around 70ish pp per master which makes it all worthwhile.
I'll lay a plan of attack out for you that I use to make many plats no matter what expac is current:
- there are 2 types of expacs (SoE always follows the same scenario)
-- the first is where the level cap is raised - this is what will be happening soon (i.e., new level 90 cap)
-- the second is where the new expac keeps the same level cap but raises the aa cap or something similar (like what happened from RoK to TSO)
So to start with the first, a new expac is released with a raised level cap.
The easiest way to make many plats in this situation is to mercilessly farm the new expac dungeons. I am positive we have all come across instances where 'new' items sell for uber plats yet a few months later, the same items are basically vendor trash. This is where you make the money - go out there and grab the new loot, adps, trade books, 'whatever' and flog it all. It is very important to keep an eye on the market prices (Zam will be a great help now as we can all see how much other servers are selling items for). After each dungeon run, check and recheck your sales board and adjust prices if necessary but keep pushing the stuff out the door as after the initial rush, prices will drop (sharply!)
Another benefit of this is you might get a few server 'firsts', maybe even a game-wide first - which is good for e-peen stroking (i.e., if you are the first person to ever find an item, your chars name will appear on the item when ppl look it up on eq2 players and stuff like that)
Second type of expac, new expansion but level cap remains the same
Now this is where you can make the serious money - and quickly.
I'll lay a scenario out for you using the RoK to TSO as an example. We all know that the latest expac's AC and weapons will be uber compared to the old expacs - so simply, race off and get your TSO T2 AC then go back and mercilessly farm the old expac dungeons (i.e., RoK).
There are a few benefits from going back to the old dungeons (in this case RoK):
- not many ppl will be farming them as the new expac is more 'exciting' --> less items from these dungeons for sale on the AH --> higher prices for old world items (assuming they are still wanted)
- you will most probably have the latest and greatest AC and weapons (TSO) --> faster farming of old dungeons (RoK) as the mobs weren't designed to be attacked with such 'powerful' items --> less chance of death
- a good chance (not always) there will be new and improved flight paths, bells, boats, etc., as simply, SOE still wants ppl to frequent these old zones to spread the server load --> even faster travel between old world dungeons --> even faster farming
- a demand will still exist for items which can be sourced from these old world dungeons (in this case lvl 71 - 80 masters)
- the possibility of finding a few no-drop fables which 'may' still desirable enough to be sold (i.e., sell looting rights for something like a carotidcutters)
So, in this case, it is very easy to simply string some RoK dungeons together to form a speed-farming loop - something like:
- hammer to chel, bird to voes, run to maidens, port to KJ, bird to seb, CoA, then zip down to lower seb for a look-see (tend to leave it last due to being a public dungeon and more than 1 group down there sucks), finish by evaccing back to the seb entrance and hammering off the easy frogs there to get back to chel for the next days farming (I use the frogs as the clothies will take a lot less damage hammering off them)
- personally, I have a look in chardok once in a while but I tend to leave it out of the main farming loop as I feel like I am 'wasting' too much time travelling
Following this simple outline will give you a good chance of netting yourself a lot of coinage plus masters - and even if the masters you want doesn't drop - you can pay any price for it without even blinking![]()
