I work in IT as a general helpdesk support / development guy (I dabble in ASP.net, etc).

As for the money for grades... I never really got an allowance, but if I made honor roll (As basically) my mom would always buy me a game. I remember when Final Fantasy 3 came out and we got it, my mom was like "How can it be final fantasy if its the 3rd one?" Lol. God bless her =)

I have to supply my own 'crack'. I swear Mountain Dew sales have gone up on Cherry AMP since I took this job. God I misse the 32oz one.

I am a professional pimp, I have a few hoe's that make money for me so paying for WoW X5 is easy.

Ok that was a joke I am not actually a pimp. Engineering for a telecom company pay is fine and being single with no wife or kids helps.

must be nice to get money for good grades gratz! I did not get good grades and no money even if I did lol.

IT desktop support w/wife and kids

I grew up poor so good grades or not I had to pay for my own games. So after one summer busting my butt with 2 paper routes I was able to buy my first used pc in 1982 .. an Atari 400!! with upgraded ram (48k!! ..not meg...Kb!). Various summer jobs were the only thing supplying my gaming habit.

My kids are growing up spoiled though.. the student got honor roll this year so she got a tmobile g1 with data plan (luckily walmart had em for 100$). I'm making my wife pay for the data plan because I don't need extra bills cutting into my gaming budget.

How do you like it? And how did you find it? I also work in IT (more on the business/data/process side though). I speak Japanese and when I was consultant worked for a Japanese client briefly. I've occasionally looked at some of the sites like career cross and pondered pursuing another international opportunity. But the work until all hours- stay out even later drinking - roll in rather late in the morning-rinse-repeat culture of at least where I was didn't fit too well with me.

I'd love the perspective of someone actively working in IT in Japan.

Try smoking here in Canada lol. It's $80 a carton. My wife and I both smoke, and we spend $400/mo sadly just on smokes. Really wanna quit...
If you really want to quit then quit. If you don't quit then you don't want to quit which is your problem - right?
