Jamba commands

When i want to use ISboxer to push jamba commands I just do a wow macro right? For example to disable follow strobe, /jamba-follow strobeoff all . It just is a wow macro action right? Doesnt seem to work when I use it.

I'm not quite understanding your question. IS just passes the keypresses and mouse movements / clicks to all the clients. Jamba is a game addon and has nothing to do with IS. Jamba uses an ingame method of tranmitting the commands between the clients. I'm not entirely sure on this, but you should be able to do it ingame by typing in that command on your team leader.

This is both accurate and misinformed.

ISBoxer has specific support for some jamba commands, such as embedding a /jamba-follow strobeonme all into your hotkey for changing hot characters. This is accomplished through the ISBoxer UI Mod which is automatically installed for you when you configure using ISBoxer.

As to the OP, normal jamba commands should still work and just need to be wow macro actions. One thing you may want to do is put a /p macroname line in these macro's for debugging, if they don't fire when you press the hotkey, there is a conflict with another keybind... you can scroll up in your chatwindow to the mass of messages you get on login and see the errors there as well.

Just to follow up on this, it almost seems like the Step with the jamba macro is being skipped altogether. I tried the situations below but never got it working. I'll just bind those macros manually in the game for now so I can get questing.

scenario 1: had step 1 and step 2. step 1 had /jamba-follow strobeonme all and another action for a text popup saying strobe on. Step two turned strobe off with a matching text popup. In-game, the text popups toggled nicely but that's it.

scenario 2: added /p text at the beginning of the macro in each step. Bizarrely, the text for step 2 would appear at each button press, yet the textpops toggled? Neither step executed the jamba line.

scenario 3: I had bound key "f" as my assist key which was hindering my ability to even type "jamba-follow" manually in-game. I thought maybe it was interfering with my jamba macro so I remapped it to F1. Didn't help the jamba macro at all, but at least I could now make the command work manually in-game.

scenario 4: out of desperation (because otherwise the textpopup toggles were working fine) I decided to delete the Key Map and try again. I even used different key bindings - same issue.

No idea what I'm doing wrong; seems like everyone else can do this just fine.

I think at this point I am going to disable follow in Jamba. It's driving me nuts.

Sounds to me like you are using the same Key Combination for multiple WoW Macro Actions. Like the same one for turning it on as turning it off. This would explain "Bizarrely, the text for step 2 would appear at each button press, yet the textpops toggled?", as well as why strobing would never be enabled for you. When you make a WoW Macro Action, the Key Combination you give it (which is unrelated to the Hotkey you set for the Mapped Key, which is the button YOU PRESS to use the mapping) is what the macro will be bound to in WoW. Only one thing can be bound to any given key in WoW.

I see! Yes I was using a toggle for follow. I bound it to "delete" and it would do strobeoff for first step and strobeon for second step. So that is not possible?

It is possible. You just need to understand that when you are creating multiple WoW Macro Actions, that each Action needs to use a different Key Combination. So for example, your Mapped Key can be when you push Delete, but your two WoW Macro Actions might be set to CTRL+SHIFT+ALT+Q and CTRL+ALT+Q or something equally obscure. It doesn't matter what they are, as long as they are different per WoW Macro.
