Default To those who have 5 of everything.

Once my current setup gets to 80 I will have a bunch of RAF time to level soome alt groups. So, what is the most fun to box up as a single class group? I was thinking 3 possibilities: paladins, rogues or mages. I have currently done DKs, 1 paladin+4 shaman, and druids. I saw some posts on people really enjoying an all rogue group and ditto for the paladins, but not much on mages. I want to keep it simple, yet at the same time I want to be able to do heroics with them (which kills the mages and rogues). So I guess it's paladins, but I was looking for some input on it.

Knock mages out of it all together, they suck in general for boxing in my opinion. but ya, if you want to do heroics pallies are you only option.

interesting, I thought mages would be awesome. I use ISboxer and it allows you to use ground targetted AOEs. I figure it would be nice to see 5 blizzards raining down destruction. And while I want to do heroics, it's not a hard requirement.

5x druid is my favourite for pure flexibilty
5x Pally is fun if you can handle melee (click to move rox)
5x hunter is pure farming pwnage

Well I already have the holy trinity on horde side (which I will transfer to alliance when they enable that feature.) I will also be leveling a holy trinity group as well so I can do heroics for sure. This is just a "fun" group really.

I LOVE pet classes. Hunters are my favorite. I started my locks really late since everyone told me it wouldn't work. I got them to 75 and have had 0000 problems with them. I cheated though and put a priest with them.

I am not sure if I should do that again. Back in the way old days, the concept was why have a tank and healer, they lower your DPS. Instances are built around tank/healer/3DPS. So if you get 5 DPS, you can just blow stuff up without needing a healer since you would have 66% more DPS than Blizzard expects you to have (5/3=1.666=166%). So I believed them and had 5 shammies and 5 hunters. It worked out. Then I got insta-ganked by Ramps at 59. I had about 60% Outlands gear, I felt strong since I could own 60 stuff in vanilla. I was very sad to not have a healer on my hunters and a tank on my shammies. So I said, I won't do that again. DKs were next and they can tank and heal and I loved it. Locks were next and I was scared. I knew the pets could tank, but could I heal them enough? I chickened out and got a priest to go with them. I probably shouldn't have, just so I could feel like I was stronger. The priest just gets ganked in PVP anyway.

The next part if I do one is pallies. I don't mind melee. I like having 20 buffs on each person. Just watching all the DOTs from my lock makes me want to judge x5 just to see pillars of light from the sky. Mostly asthetics, but still. I can't even imagine doing rogues. No backstabs since facing issues. No tanking. No healing. Dang that sounds ruff. For gankage, sure, but I can wait until they let classes start at 55. I cross all my fingers and toes that the next hero class (6-7 months away) is a pet healer class.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

My current group is 4 hunters and a priest. I forgot to mention that =)

As for rogues, shadow step is useful for getting behind the enemy.

    I leveled:

    5x Shaman (Elem)
I choose the space girls as my first team to level. Actually subbed in a Paladin I had sitting around. Have Paladin x1 (prot) with Space Girls x4. This team can do heroics. I've dual-spec'd one of the shammies to resto, which makes challenging content so much easier. I've also dual-spec's the Paladin to a Prot/Holy build, which I found on Arena Junkies. Basically envisioning Prot/4x Elem for most content, Prot/3x Elem/1x Resto for some content, and Prot/Holy /4x Elem for PvP's. Gearing up in BG's with basically nothing will be the normal pain, but I really like the idea of Pally main (using mouse cast macro's) as a high Sta healer, along with 4x Elem to blow stuff up; not sure how it will work in practice... 30% of Stamina as spell power, and stacking Stamina/Resilience... have pvp'd with an Elem shammy a ton in BC, I know what they bring to the table.

    5x Druid (Bal)
I have had a ton of fun with this team. I love the sheer power of 10 HoT's on a target or Tranquility on Round-Robin. Wrath or Starfire destroy anything very quickly. They're a high damage option. Treants via Force of Nature is fun to spring. Hurricane is very powerful too. I'd think this will be the second team to level, should I ever get the inclination to level another team to 60 to 80. If I had no interest in heroics, or was willing to respec/dual spec one to Feral and possibly one to Resto, this team is a very close second to my first choice.

    5x Hunter (BM)
I envisioned Hunters as an extra team for dailies. A lot of kill quests would be destroyed very quickly. Of course having played others, it doesn't matter what you're playing in that kill quests blow up almost right away anyway. I'd probably go 1-2 Beast Mastery for tanking pets, 1 Marksman for Trueshot aura and the other 2-3 Survival for extra control options. The team was not as fun, due to having pets decide to do their own thing quite often. Still, don't regret leveling them, and they're there for the future.

    5x Priest (Disc)
I found Disc to be quite fun. With the Shields, Power Infusion, Pain Suppression, Holy Nova... Holy Fire and Smite was pretty good damage. Devouring Plague and SW: Pain made for strong dottage. I don't see the team as being successful in heroics, but they could be a pain in a Battleground - Mana Drain, Mass Dispel and impressive heals, say 25 yards back behind the fight at a choke point. A fun distraction from your normal play. Surprisingly they leveled faster (with 4x RAF, 1x 70 Disc Priest boosting) then my hunter team (with 4x RAF, 1x 70 BM Hunter boosting, both T4 geared alts).

    I love my 5 Mages !

OK, they are only level 66. They were lower priority compared to my PVE group (Paladin+Shaman Healer+3xShaman DPS) and my fun/farming/PVP group (Druid Healer + 4 Hunters).

Still, I love the gameplay. They are all arcane. Two (times five) Arcane Explosions are enough to kill anything at same level, making questing a joke. Arcane Missile is very nice in the way the Mages turn to keep enemies in line of sight (very very useful in PVP). I cannot wait to get Invisibility and ... Mirror Image ! With the right glyph (to get 4 cones instead of 3), it is going to be so fun to see. Imagine that, 25 Mages spamming Arcane Explosion ! I also hope they will be able to do well in PVP. I don't mean "great", with high arena rating and stuff, I'm too casual for that, I just mean "fun".

Have you hit a ceiling yet with your hunters? For example, can you finish any Heroics with them?
