Thread: EQ2 performance

    Default EQ2 performance

    Hi everyone :-)

I'm thinking of doing a 2-3 boxing setup on EQ2 with innerspace. But I'm not sure if my hardware is actually gonna make it doable.
Atm i'm using a E8400, 4 gig ram and a 260GTX card with 896ram or something like that.

    Would it even be possible?

I think you should be fine. I would suggest turning down the settings on the slaves since you won't be looking at them much, but you shouldn't have a problem I don't think.

Ah cool, thanks for the quick answer :-)

    No problem.

Here's some other pieces of information that might help you also.

In InnerSpace there is the option to limit framerates of the slave machines. Set them to around 15 seems to work very well. I did that myself and my CPU usage dropped a decent amount. and they still update enough so you can easily see what is going on when you have to look at them, which is recommended to make sur they are doing what they should.

I'd also recommend removing the slaves from any of the level chats since there is too much spam in most of them that you'll never catch the important ones. For the slave accounts I just have a seperate chat box that is just for the important things, such as tells so it is easy to tell when one of them gets something and i need to switch to it to see what it was.

Hope this helps and good luck! I've been doing a ghetto (alt+tab or different computers) 3 boxing for awhile and have just recently picked up IS which has helped a lot and will soon (next couple of days) be expanding to a full 6. Can't run them all on one computer unfortunately though.

    Awesome!

I was really impressed when I saw the video on their homepage about the window switching, although it's not exactly the same requirement to bot in EQ2 :-)
But i'm thinking three would be enough for my needs, SK/warlock/fury should be a good trio. I might swap the SK for something else, since my friend wants to play one.

I just wish there was some good guides about what dungeons / group areas that are suited for ppl who box :P

Three can do a pretty good job. I was happy with three for a long time...I've just started wanting to do some of the shard instances and other high level stuff and it can be hard to find a group for some characters so I will make my own.

As for the dungeon/group areas, pretty much everyone is fine until you get into the newer/higher level ones. The only time that boxing can be difficult in instances is when you have to click stuff or do certain things for a boss, but there's not many of those type of places until you get into the newer and higher level areas.

Me and a friend decided to box two each, while another friend just plays one... our plan is that he will box a SK/troubadour and I will box a fury/warlock and the last guy plays a defiler.

Hopefully that will be a decent small group?

    Again, thanks for the replies
