I don't quite understand why people think anyone else has the slightest interest in their opinions on Vista or other operating systems. I expect the same opinionated "experts" were trotting out similar rhetoric when W2K came out, and again when XP was announced.

My decision to run Vista on my new machines is far from ill-informed. I have compelling professional reasons for running Vista (in addition to other OSes) and have no interest in why you - or others - choose not to.

What I do know is that developing software that is not supported on Vista is a dead-end, whether we like it not, because for the vast majority of the population, an operating system is just a means to an end, not something to get all foamy-mouthed about.

You choose not to support Vista. That's your call. I honestly don't care. My jury-rigged setup works adequately well. I wouldn't have minded coughing up a few dollars for a more elegant solution, but c'est la vie.

    Peace.

    edit: usual typos...

Vista right now is a joke. I'd go so far as to say it's a blazing disappointment. I wouldn't install it if it were free. I'm sure you have reasons to run it, compelling as you say.

I don't blame the author for not testing it on Vista for one person.

    Default KEYCLONE AND XKEYS

keyclone and xkeys....are they compatible with each other for dual boxing on a single pc

Yes, X-keys is a hardware "keyboard" that can be set to assign different key combinations to it.

    I don't see why not.

I'm currently running Keyclone on a Vista machine.. its running "ok" however it isn't listing the windows after you add them, and its not letting you set up keys in the setup portion..

ie. i click the area of the window that it tells you to click before pressing they key you want to add to either list, and nothing happens (ie. the key doesn't appear in the larger text box above the "click me" box)

straight out of the box it works ok (ie. keystrokes activating on both of my wow windows at the same time) however i feel i'm losing out a bit by not being able to utilise the program fully?

also, sometimes hitting the override button crashes the program..

    running on Windows Vista:
sounds like they changed how they enumerate windows in vista (quality job)

a crash when pressing override? wtf (it basically sets a flag). that is the first crash i have heard of since its first release (mar 2006)

    *sigh*

i'll see what i can do

on my machine, i can run 5 shadowbane instances at once on one machine, with 3 on another and 1 per laptop (4 keyclones hooked together... 10 characters synchronized). for the wow video, i had one on a laptop recording and 4 on my main machine (2 keyclones, 5 characters in a group). i haven't tried more then 5 characters in wow yet (anyone try it? does /assist work outside your group?? i figure it should considering raids, but i have not tried it)

as for Vista compatibility, well... you'll have to beta test that for me, and if it doesn't work, i'll try to fix it. i have no current plans to abuse my machines with vista, and considering the hardware requirements for vista... i don't foresee it happening anytime soon.
Now you're talking sense! The option to combine AHK with Synergy+broadcasting is actually worth something, Vista sucks (I know from experience), and if u add keymapping and support for G15 I'll actually be likely to buy it. Oh yeah and it'll have to work with Vista as most of my laptop's hardware doesn't work with XP.

Really you should mention the bit about it being able to broadcast to windows and computers at the same time more often.
