Default How far could my system go?

i've been having my low budget rig for 3 months now and started multi-boxing recently.. after dual-boxing, i went to tri-boxing and now i am resisting 5-boxing... alot of ppl recommend 5-boxing instead of 4 since they are all gonna b the same no matter its 4 or 5 boxing..

my current rig setup is as follows:

    - core 2 duo 8400 + gigabyte ep45 ud3
    - palit 4870 1gb
    - acbel m8 750W
    - coolermaster v8
    - ocz 1066mhz ram 4gb
    - philips 24" lcd @ 1900 x 1200

i am over-clocking my setup to get me 3.5 ghz for my cpu. not sure if my setup could run 5 instance of wow client..

    atm 3 instance of wow:

    - main 1024 x 768 (max vid setting)
    - alt 800 x 600 (x2) (min vid setting)

been some lagging in cities and even sometimes while questing... shd b my cpu problem.. internet connections has been on the 600+ms latency..
fps is not an issue w my gfx..

not sure how far my rig could get me.. if it could not get me to 5x wow client, i might upgrade my board and cpu.. but still wondering if i should upgrade to a quad core. i am eying for the new i7, but that would mean a change in the mb and ram too...

how well does i7 perform compared to quad ?

    any suggestions?

    simply put i7 owns all,then phenom II x4 the C2Q/=phenom IIx3

with that said, a simple upgrage (170 USD avg price q6600) and upgrade to 8gb ram ( depending on what 4gb combo you have now) for $90 and possibly an ssd if your not running one allready, will make it so you can 5-box pretty much pain free.

8gb would take me off 32 bit OS.. is 64bit OS good? i read so much cons about 64 bit and i'm actually having phobia upgrading to 64 bits...

other than for the xtra ram, what else do u gain?

Although that was all true when Vista first came out (both flavors 32/64) SP1 fixed most of the problems. With Windows 7 being a free OS for now, I do not think you should be concerned about problem there.

When I jumped to 8 gigs, everything smoothed out. Not sure about MB in Dalaran yet, only have one 80, so I might need a new vid card. Else 5 toons run great on my box with the same CPU and 8 gigs (Quad 6600)
RAF Tour Guide files are obsolete, I went to Zygor

Just a thing I found out that might help out here, Do not have your alts running mods like Gatherer, Lootlink or the Auctioneer sweet. I am running 5 accounts with only 2GB of ram and higher resolutions than what are listed here (1440x900 and 4 more at the size of 480x300 but wow rendering at 960x600). World of difference when I got rid of unneeded addons from the alts.
