Default Ahune on farm (normal mode)

This is how I do it. I can 4 box it with my lvl 80 toons and sub in any of my level 65+ toons. (Level 65 is when you can get the quest.) Or I substitute in a friend / guild mate to make 5. I only do normal mode. I’ll try heroic before the event ends. The loot is crap (read level 70 and can’t even be DE’d). I’m just here for the pet and to give others the achievement / tabard.

Clear the area and even clear the hallway up to the quest NPC’s that are there. Kill those yellow con. slave workers too.

Now there are 3 things that we don’t want, getting thrown into the water, slipping on the snow/frost on the floor, and getting into melee range of Ahune. To eliminate that I have all toons stay at the hallway’s opening. If you’re facing Ahune, the summoning quest stone should be to your left. Park your group here or behind. Buff up and start the event. Phase 1. I kill the big rock guy asap. You can get a few hits in before the small adds come and before the ice spikes start. Once the ice spikes start you’ll have to move your group. The ice spikes have a rhythm and Ahune never misses a beat. (And the range is zone wide!) Since all my toons are in one spot the spikes will always be on me. I don’t move much this fight. I simple take the keys “Q” and “E” off of “do not pass” on Keyclone. Once I see a spike coming I just hit strife and “side step” the ice spike. This turns off the ice spike. It never hits me. Once you have this “side step” down its easy mode. You’ve turned off the 3 things above and now the ice spikes
    .
All that is left is his adds. They spawn 2 at a time and out of range. Don’t move, let them come to you. All movement should be just your “side stepping”. Note however if you do get an ice spike just hit follow and get back into position. Get back into the rhythm of the ice spikes, then kill adds. Worry about turning off that ice spike 1st then adds. This whole time I’m on adds, I never even target Ahune.

Phase 2. You’ll get a raid warning just as the last 2 adds spawn. Start running up to Ahune as soon as you get the raid warning. Kill those adds on the way. There are no ice spikes after the warning and during Phase 2. As soon as toons are in range to DPS stop moving and do so. All we need here is to be at max range, anything closer is time lost on movement and not on DPS. Blow all cool downs, hit him as hard as you can. I kill him as he comes out. If he is not dead it’s a judgment call. Either ignore everything and keep DPS’ing him to kill him, or hit follow and get back into position to redo Phase 1. (Which you’ll get 3 small adds per wave)

Good luck to every one. Please add anything to help others.

With lvl 80s you can just brute force him. I didn't pay any attention to the adds, ice spikes or phases. Just target the boss and kill him, he only has a couple of hundred thousand hitpoints.

    Good guide!

My 80s don't try that hard though. The Hailstone gets the usual tank-n-spank treatment, with the entire party strafing a few steps now and then to avoid the inevitable spikes. Once the Hailstone is down, I just run in a wide circle to mindlessly ignore the spikes, and DoT/Judge things as I see them spawn. Even on heroic, the adds are kittens and it takes very little to squash them. I keep it up 'til he submerges. Even with nearly full 80 heroic gear, burning Ahune down in the exposed phase is pretty frantic and sometimes I barely fail to finish him off, but felguards and shadow bolts do a pretty good job. If I don't kill him before a new Hailstone spawns, I get its attention with the tank then go right back to Ahune. Loot, grab snowballs and crappy capes I would've felt a lot better about 10 levels ago, and repeat.

Pretty much same as Malekyth. I kill the elite, then run in circles and let consecration and shield throws kill the adds (they have barely 2k hps). Just don't get into melee of Ahune until he has fully melted to the core or he'll knock you back, then run up and toast him after he has melted before he can return to his normal form.

I don't bother attacking him before he melts down to the core since its a hassle to keep moving toons out of spikes, plus he only takes 25% damage while in his normal form, so that 175k hps is more equivalent to 700k hps. Most people are unlikely to kill him before he fully melts anyways, and you only need to keep moving for about 90 seconds until he melts. If you think you can do 700k hps of damage in 1.5 mins (7777 combined team DPS while dealing with adds and spikes), then feel free to go that route. Otherwise, you just need to do 175k hps in 30 seconds (5833 combined team DPS) before he's back to his normal form.

Here's my way of doing it:

    1. Clear the area
    - As you approach Ahune: 2 groups of naga, 1 group slavemaster, 1 group lobster
    - Behind Ahune: 1 group of naga, 1 group slavemaster

    2. Melt the Icestone
    - Make sure the shaman summoning isn't left behind because of a slip

    3. Leave Shammies at 20 yards, DPS down big elemental
    - If the ice break is forming under the shammies, just move them up with autofollow
    - It shouldn't take more than 1 ice break to down the initial elemental

    4. Drop healing stream totems, magma totems on non-icy ground
    - Run circles around your magma totems for a couple minutes, redrop as necessary

    5. Ahune retreats
    - DPS him down

    6. Loot and repeat
Someguy: "You must really like playing with yourself"
    Me: "OH HELLS YEAH!"

heroic and normal aren't much different, i do heroic first than 5x normal and im done in 15 mins. Got 1 pet so far, 1 sword, the enchant, and the rest all crap cloaks

to do it ultra fast just go in with all 5 as DPS spec, and whale on ahune in p1 as much as you can. ranged is better since melee get knocked back if you run to him in p1. just strafe the entire team left/right every time the ground animation appears, i get him down in under a minute before p2 even starts. D&D (or consecrate) and magma totems pwn the mini adds and you can just ignore them.

I was looking at this and wondering, why bother farming Ahune?

If you have frost resistance (totem, aura,...) you don't need to move

You farm it for the pet

I got a filter on at work. Is there any difference in drops besides the pet? Are the capes better on heroic? I havent seen any of them, but I figure my team is going to be 70 soon and I want to see if I can take this guy down with 4 hunters and a priest.

the pet drops on normal as well as on H. The enchanting recipe only drops in H afaik. I got the cool weapon on H too but not sure if it maybe also rarely drop on normal (doubt it because I never saw it on normal, only lots of useless capes)
