Playing Horde on Shattered Halls - EU
My rig is farily simple at the moment.
Using 1 comp and 1 monitor as I can't afford anything more on a student budget atm.
Using keyclone right now.
I started out unbinding ALL keys on both characters, and slowly introduced keys as I discovered I needed them. So the learning processs was a bit long and tedious in the beginning. I used a simple but effective setup when leveling in the beginning. RAF to 60 then questing to 80. I had one as leader, and on the follower I simply had /assist playername /cast spell macros on a few buttons. And on ASDW I had bound a macro that made him follow the leader...
That worked for a while until I got tired of how complicated it was to swap leader, since I manually had to change the keybindings. And I like to be able to swap between windows and change leader when I'm daoing say, gathering quests.
That was ofc be4 they made the interact with target looting thing possible.
So around lvl 64 I swapped from having a /follow leader macro on the movement keys, to silencing those keys on keyclone and making a separate button for following. But I still used /assist to dps and heal.
I didn't know squat about making macros, so I just went with what was easy to make with the knowledge I had at then...
At lvl 70 I started to encounter more allies, and though I could kill most of them, there were a few pallies that took me by suprise that made me decide I needed to get a little mor econtrol over my characters. That's when I started to look for a good site for information and found this.
Looked at the leaderless followerless setup and decided it was a bit too complicated for me still, but I ended up shedding the /assist targeting for target=targettarget macros instead.
So all I needed to do now to change leader was to push a button with the macro
/target new leader
/follow
(At lvl 80 I have Leader 1, 2, and 3, bound to F 10, F11 and F12.... It's a bit far away on the keyboard but I'm saving alot of buttons for my next project.)
At lvl 80 I installed macaroon and removed all castbars etc and built new ones from scratch.
My UI atm still looks very much like the original one, only I have most of my bars on the right clustered together and bound to the numpad in a way that makes sense to me.
I'm not fond of using alot of addons. And instead of hording anything I think might be useful, I prefer to wait until I feel the need for something. unless There's something I don't yet know that I probably need. But that's why I've come hereSo that people can tell me stuff like "Hey have you tried this thing here that's alot easier than the big piece of somethingsomething your using?"
I'm also leveling a warrior and a paladin to be tank and healer. As my next experiment once I've gotten the hang of this will be to try 5 mans.
But I have a few thing's I'd like to get worked out first.
My biggest problem is with the target=targettarget function and healing. I can't really get it to work properly with changing leader.
The macro I'm using for most heals looks like this:
/cast [target=targettarget] [] Lesser Healing Wave.
But If I have that macro on the leader. And the leader targets a follower to heal the follower. Then the two followers will heal that follower, since they're using the same macro and is casting on the leaders target. But The leader ofc casts the heal on himself, since he's using the same macro and now that he's got a target and it's not hostile, he's acting like he was a follower.
Atm I'm just Using Toast as the leader, and just using the normal spell without a macro for him, and using the macro on the other 2.
But that means that when I change leader, I gotta swap spells on the bars and I don't like doing work to change leaders.
I can imagine a few solutions to this but I'd like a bit of feedback on it.
One solution could be to add a Shift or Alt modifier to the macro I guess. So that depending on who's the leader, I gotta hold down either shift or alt (or nothing) when I push the healing button.
So if Toast is my usual leader.
His macro would look like this:
If no modifier is pressed, /cast heal on target
If Alt or shift is held down, /cast spell on targettarget.
I don't know exactly how that macro would look but it shouldn't be hard to make I think.
the other option would be to simply use focus for healing...
adding focus to my "swap leader" button. And using /assist focus for heals.
But is there somthing else I would want to save focus for?
Namely CC... I think I'll need focus for CC when I start doing 5 man's. (Don't think I'll be worrying about arena just yet... Bg's are fun as hell but I'm still blue geared so not going there for a while )
Is there a way to use focus for both purposes sort of intertwined?
A third option I can think of is to use macaroon to do what I'm currently doing now.
Changing keybindings. Macaroon can store many profiles on each account with different keybindings. If I can change between macaroon profiles with 1 buttonpress then I can change leader and swap my healing macros with normal healing spells for the new leader in one swift move. That would be neat, and simple to set up.
Also, I could think of more uses for instant profile swaps in macaroon.. is this possible?
Fourth option?
are there other ways to handle this problem with using targettarget to heal that I haven't thought of?
Aditional information about my setup:
I'm using round robin macros for Thunderstorm, War stomp and earthbind totem.
I lag in dalaran. =P
I don't like thaddius x3
Exams are tomorrow D:

I was gonna ask about that too! I'm expecting a significant chunk of change coming my way later in the year, most of it is going to bills and putting a new roof on the house but me and the wife decided we'd get about $500 each to spend on whatever. I was considering buying myself a Frostmourne with my share...Originally Posted by 'Zal',index.php?page=Thread&postID=213232#post2132 32
