woe for my framerate :(

Wondering if anyone can suggest any solutions to my awful frame rates I am experiencing at the moment...

System specs :

Athlon 64 Dual Core 3ghz
4Gb Ram
2 x GeForce GTX260's not running in SLi spanning 2 monitors, one monitor connected to each card
Vista Home 64

Running a single wow I have anywhere between 45 to 60 fps on max settings in game, however when I 5 box..1 main window on one screen and 4 on the other, my main screens FPS drops to 10 and lower. All 5 windows have graphics settings at the base minimum, and I have set maxfpsbk to 10 in keyclone for my slave windows. This however seems to make no difference at all, I am still experiencing the terribad framerates.

I am sure I should be getting higher rates with the rig I am running, and while I have a spare pc that I am eyeing up for a 2nd keyclone and just shoving the clones on that, I would like to work out why things run so badly

I would set a fpsmax on the main window as well. Maybe 40 at most, but try different amounts until it works well. Make sure the other windows are not in the best resoultion or using high settings. Also, with a 64-bit system you could try adding more RAM. Overall you should be able to handle 5 windows with that setup if you do the settings properly.

Another thing you might try is having two copies of WoW. One for your leader and one for the slaves. Try setting the resolution of the client for the slaves to a low resolution and make sure the AA is set to 1x on both the master and the slave clients.

If you're using a program like InnerSpace you can tell WoW which card to launch on. You can manually do but I forget how...it's on the forums here somewhere. I think the only real reason to use more than one card [with 2 outputs] is if you're trying to hook up more than 2 monitors. Especially with 260's...I have a GTX 260 myself and I'm 5 boxing like a champ.

This in one hand. On the other hand a dual core will never be as adequate to run 5 instances of WoW as quad core CPU. The pain will become more obvious once you move into outlands and northerend.

In the meantime here are some other things to try and and check:

Try running two instances of WoW, and note the results. Then three, then four. Try this with just one card running, as suggested above, check your CPU performance in task manager. If your framerate decreases as your number of instances increase, then the CPU is maxing out.
Additionally, and if this started happening recently check (again use task manager) if there is perhaps a process easting up your CPU cycles.

You're definately better off having both monitors plugged in to the same card if you only have two !
