Default First Dual+ Box, quick noob questions :)

Hi I havent done much double boxing at all except runnings alts through SM. I have read through here and have setup keyclone and it's awesome. I think I am going to try and quad box PvP.

    My current setup is
    AMD 5400+ dual core
    2.5 GB Ram
    2x 8600GT 256mb SLi enabled
    Vista home professional

I am on a 21 inch monitor running my main(70 shaman) at 1440x900 windowed at max out everything except terrain distance. I only get around 25-40 FPS except in closed areas =[. I just bought this in july, is it my video cards? When I run my double setup (druid/lock) i get about the same fps but it looks very scaled and weird.

I want to know how to go half and half and get rid of borders, here it is now:

Would getting an 8800GT 512mb allow me to play my main(first copy which i never box with, i have 3 copies of wow total, 1 for main 2 for boxing) with 60 steady fps maxed out with a bunch of mods?

I also am going to get a 2nd computer, most likely a laptop, would I be able to quadbox if I dropped a grand on a laptop, and did a full screen main on my desktop, then tri screened on the laptop? Or would it be better off to just get another desktop(really want a laptop though, dont have a portable computer atm)

    Thanks a lot

I don't have a heck of a lot of experience with this like some of the others around here but I run two copies on a AMD 64 4400 X2, 1GB Mem, ATI 1900XT 512MB at 1680x525 and I can pretty much get a steady 50-60 fps on each instance of the game, it will dip in the city though but thats it.

Sounds to me like you should get good fps with your setup.
I'm running 4 windows on 1 PC with the following specs:

    2.4 GHz Quad Core
    4 GB RAM
    Gefore 8600GT 512MB
    Windows XP x64

Although my specs are a bit higher, I still think you should be able to get good performance just running 2 windows.

Also if you want to get rid of the borders you might wanna checkout WoW Maximizer or KeyClone's maximizer. (Don't know the links right now, but the info is in the stickies at the software forum)

Plan on spending around $2k to tri box on a laptop.

I wouldn't go from an sli 8600 to an 8800gt, not that big of an upgrade.

Since you have keyclone, it has maximizer built into it. You can set it up so it will remove the borders.
