You know linked account won't get triple xp if they are not within 4 levels of each other? That's why you need an unlinked booster (who is likely 80).

Worked fine for me, have you personally verified that you can't? I have verified that you can.
edit: the issue is that the low levels need to be linked to eachother, it doesn't matter if the booster happens to also be linked to one if they are also linked to one of the other low levels.

I'll be back in awhile, it will take me some time to gather the toys I have flung out of the pram.

So you have 5 toon chain linked, with one being 80 and the other under lvl 60, and the lowbies get triple xp? That's good to know. May I ask for a screenshot of it?
