Has anyone kept a running total of the # of SM runs it takes to go from 25-45?

all numbers below were from using a 70 mage booster. here's the count for my 20-45:

20-31 SM (bout 6 resets, 1h, 8m per run, instance cap) [insert coffee break here or level the next set of toons thru starting area]
SM Cath = ~18 bars at l24
SM Arm = ~12 bars at l25
(20-28 = 21 mins, and then i get instance capped)

31-35 SM (bout 4 resets, 45m, 8m per run)

35-45 ZF (bout 7 resets, 1h45m, 15-20m per run)
(note: this is pre-nerf ZF)

one run of ZF was started at 35.05
1st pull (to the fountain) = ~10 bars at l35 (4m)
2nd pull (left of fountain - including all mobs at ghazrilla area) = ~8 bars at l36 (3m)
3rd pull (right of fountain - including Antu'sul + surrounding mobs) = ~3 bars at l35-36 (3m)
4th pull (scarabs) = ~3 bars at l36 (1m)
5th pull (zombies) = ~7 bars at l36 (2m)
6th pull (prestairs) = ~3 bars at l36-37 (2m)
7th pull (all stairs) = ~7 bars at l37 (4m)
total run including downtime = ended at 37.025 (24m from entrance to exit)

I never tracked the exact time, but its always been an afternoon.
I've done it with RAF, so its very quick.
But my dps is not optimal for the area.

I've run with
- 4 leveling hunters, grouped with a T4 Hunter (BM Spec).
- 4 leveling shammies, grouped with a T5 Shammy (Elem Spec).
- 4 leveling disc priests, grouped with the same shammy.
- 4 leveling Boomkins, grouped with the same shammy.

Pretty much single target or Multi-shot/Chain Lighting.
An actual AoE class like a Pally or Mage would have done it faster.
The job got done, with the tools available.
Then again, when I'm in a leveling mood, I'm willing (and able) to play 15 hrs a day for numerous days straight.

How many runs through Stockades for 20-25? Each run through with RAF gives ~18 bars of XP, somewhat less for 23-25. I think it would take ~7 runs with RAF so if this took you ~20 without it then the L80 isn't affecting your XP. Which means you can expect to run SM about 40 times if you do both Armory and Cathedral full clears.

lolx! i did start with mages back then and i got up to 45ish when i decided to just do a 'reboot' and started from scratch with RAF. never looked back now that i've got all the toons i'd ever need! if only i had time!!

I'm on another batch of hunters and just finished SM and heading to ZF.

The normal path I follow is:

Alliance:
1-12 Questing
12-22 Stockades
22-40 SM
40-46 ZF
46-60 Strat

Horde:
1-8 Questing
8-16 RFC
16-22 WC
22-40 SM
40-46 ZF
46-60 Strat

I also loot every mob from SM+ and make 1000's of gold :P

My Tanks always have Enchanting!! And I DE all BoP and Greens and AH blues+/cloth, etc...

Just finished the SM runs for my new 4 hunters and I made:

~250 gold (~50g each toon) from silver
Once all of the AH mats sell I'll have another 700+ Gold. I got 2 Blue BoE's but on my Server no one farms this level mats, so the cloth sells for alot and the Enchant Mats sell for a ton!! 3g+ ea. on avg!

I'm doing ZF right now and each run is netting me ~ 2 levels a run. I do a complete clear and my bags are full on my tank from all of the drops. I'm not into speed when doing RAF leveling just farming gold, makes it a tad bit more fun and you don't have that issue of not having enough gold.

I do not have an answer to your exact question, but here is a summary of my recent run from 1-60 with my replacement killers.

1-10. Crabs on the beach with my 80 druid.
10-20 SFK with my 80 paladin.
20-35 SM Cath/Armory. Last 6-7 levels here I just ran Cath. I just did not like Armory, I would rather just wait 30min for the hour lockout to pass.
35-45 Sunken Temple
45-60 Scholomance: Here I did do some tracking. It took me on average 16min to clear Scholo. First 4 runs net me 5 levels. By the 15th run, I had leveled 15 times. So it came out to 15 runs for 15 levels. My RAF accounts did not have BC else at 55 I would have ran Underbog like 2-3 times and been done. It never took more than 2 runs to get a level and that only happened once in Scholo and a couple of times clearing SM Cath. If your not getting a level a run with RAF, then you need to move on.

One thing that made this run of dungens nice, I never had to move my toons from the zone in. That took endless hassle out of the equation than having agro magnets follow you through a zone.

Level 1-8: questing - often single and not multi
Level 8-14: Ragefire Chasm
Level 14-20: Wailing Caverns
Level 20-40: Scarlet Monastery
Level 40-55: BRD then LBRS
Level 55-65: Ramparts then Blood Furnace

I can do this using a 70 warrior. Although I have 4 warlocks, I'll often pick up a healer and just rotate 3 warlocks. The healer speeds things up, he can also loot things. My general rules are he can keep everything that isn't rare, which I get to keep. If it's rare and something the healer can use, then it's his. The xp is so fast there are few complaints about the loot rules. Some people just don't get it and want to loot every little grey item and spend 15 minutes running back and forth selling when we could just pick up the expensive stuff and make more money/xp faster.

BRD and LBRS in particular are underused I think. The mobs come in nice groups of 4-5, perfect for a warrior. One of the nice things about both of these is that they are so large I'm able to just bang away for 45 minutes, clearing it and avoiding the shuffle at the zone line that is always so annoying.
