Heroic Halls of Lightning last boss (Loken)

OK, so I've never put anything on Youtube before, let alone tinkered with any kind of video editing. I bought fraps a while ago and finally used it to record each boss in HoL. I used virtualdub to compress the files and this is the result. No sound or music or anything in this little clip, maybe next time!



This is how I do Loken with my warrior + 3xwarlock + priest team.

If you don't run out fast enough will the nova kill your casters? I haven't tried this heroic yet.

Even fresh level 80 characters should survive this:

Lightning Nova
5 sec cast
Emit a pulse of energy that deals 6013 to 6987 Nature damage to enemies within 20 yards.

On Heroic my first try was over after the first nova - 3/5 dead because of the damage and the low health of my toons. :P At least the first time - if you can survive that damage, just cuddle in front of the boss and kill him without a problem.

If you don't run out fast enough will the nova kill your casters? I haven't tried this heroic yet.

Initially I tried running out and found it too tough to do (until I found the strafe technique you see in that video). I was always too slow getting out of the way and when that happens your team gets hit and it's gg.

I then watched how Hachoo did it (he just takes the blasts and heals through). I decided to try it this way and I was able to pull it off if I had really good timing. Basically after that blast goes off my priest would be at about 1k health (even with fort on) and one tick of the bouncing spark between characters would kill him. I found my priest would die, heal in spirit form, use his soulstone, only to die again and continue healing in spirit form to complete the boss. He has about 17.5k health with fort on. My warlocks have more health (about 19k with fort) and soul link so they were generally OK.

At the end of the day I found that running out worked the best for my group as long as I could manage to avoid the blasts. Sometimes I run prematurely and the boss moves out of position and things get a bit hairy, but as long as I do it properly it works fine.
