Thread: Pally blessings

  1. #1

    Default Pally blessings

I was thinking how to do pally buffs since they seem to make a difference in my mind, but every 10 mins would get old. Having 1 person do a buff on 4 people would still get old unless you use a LOT of /clicks (to change targets). What if all the people buffed at the same time? Help and see if this works, I am sleepy and haven't thought it through, I wanted to get it down before I forgot it.

    Chars 1-5
    Everyone buffs wisdom on themselves.

Char n buffs n+1 with might
    (1 mights 2, 2 mights 3, 3 mights 4, 4 mights 5, 5 mights 1)

Char n buffs n-1 with kings (could have used n+2)
    (1 kings 5, 2 kings 1, 3 kings 2, 4 kings 3, 5 kings 4)

Char n buffs n+2 with something, maybe sanc, just make up one
    (1 sanc 3, 2 sanc 4, 3 sanc 5, 4 sanc 1, 5 sanc 2)

Now each pally has a buff on them with 4keypresses. No /clicking. And each pally didn't buff a specific person more than once.
    Checking......
    1 buffs 1, 2, 5, 3 and doesn't overlap buffs
    but how about 1:
    1 gets buffs from 1, 5, 2, 4 and no overlap.
Shouldn't it work, 4 buffs, 4 keypresses and 5 people fully buffed? Again, am sleepy so might be way off.

Is there any particular reason why you don't just use something like Smartbuff (links to Curse)?

Just set each of your pallies up to provide a specific buff (pally 1 kings, pally 2 might, etc), hit the smartbuff trigger key five times and you're in business with a fully buffed group and a pretty light show every time you re-buff

I use smartbuff is for all my buffs. Worked really well until I went to azjol nerub and some of my characters started randomly dieing from the deep fall into the water in that instance... turned out that auto buffing waterwalking in that instance, isn't a good idea

I never buff water walking and usually have at least 1 toon die on that fall. Also I get random deaths on the short cuts out of UK and Drak'tharon.\

It seems to me its only tauren and trolls that die from falling so I think it's because of their larger hitbox outline. Damn moonking outline is huge...it's like a house compared to my FM bloodelf.

A focus based system makes this very easy to do, give each pally a 'buff' macro like this and bind it to a key/bar:

    /cast [target=focustarget] SPELL

Then using your main, select the target and press the key, bingo each pally casts their buff on that person. Takes 5 clicks and 5 key presses to buff the whole party and is good for buffing passersby too.

There's link in my siug for setting up a simple focus based system.

Looks like all your toons are paladins? If so just level and get your greater blessings when buffs really matter. Each one picks a diff greater blessing and poof. All of them have all the blessings for 30 min with one press of the key. Else use smartbuff and just hit the key a bunch of times. No point in reinventing the wheel with a custom macro when its been done before with 10diff add-on's.

That's not unique to a focus-based system, and it's not as easy as using SmartBuff, which needs zero macro slots and zero clicks.

You can buff passersby too - just enable it in the SmartBuff options.

Yeah! I switched to SmartBuff at some point and never looked back. It's not a perfect addon (er, like, when you've forgotten to rebuff sanctuary or righteous fury and it wears off in the middle of combat ...), but it's better than anything we can do in a macro.

If you are all Pallys use Pally Power. Your leader can set everyone's buffs and auras. You can bind the auto buff key and just hit it once with greater blessings or the little auto buff however many times you need if you are doing little blessings.

    pally buff macro

I found this post. Its about 2 years old but I like it. The macro

    /targetparty
    /cast blessing of wisdom

works but does not buff the pally giving the buff just everyone else. So if you have 4 pallys the person giving wisdom does not get it but everyone else does.

I am not a real big add-on guy so i like it. Any one think they can rewrite it so that ther person giving it gets the buff too ?
