Default Oddity with Instance Power Leveling

I'm boosting my 2nd team thru Strat with my unlinked main account.

I have a group my 80 warrior (unlinked) and my 4 druids. I take roughly 13 minutes to clear servant entrance area, and through to the live side, and then reset. At this rate, I should never hit my 5 instances per hour limit.

However, the oddity is this: I get an instance limit error message on my druids, but not my warrior.

Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening? My warrior is group lead and the one I drive from, so I reset from his window. Can't really fathom why it would be selective like this. Thanks for any suggestions!

Did your druids die? If they do and re-enter to come back to life that counts as a new instance for them.

I can't answer the question, but I can say that this is wrong It would be a bit inconvenient having to clear the whole instance again every time you wipe on the last boss!

I don't think there can even be a bug here that would make this true for the purposes of the reset limt. Both boosting and not boosting, my guys (and gals!) have died far more times than the instance reset limit would allow if this were true.

You say it's roughly 13 minutes? That's very close to the 5 instance per hour limit. So close that I can understand that it might trigger the 5 instances per hour limit on some chars and not on others.

Yeah, 5x13 is cutting it close to the 60 minute mark. When I'm running this close to an instance limit, and I know it, I tend to take a small break after I get close to the limit. Get up, stretch the legs, get a new drink, use the bathroom, etc. Then you are ready to pound out another hours worth of leveling.

In the past when I have had this issue, it is usually a matter of about 5 minutes. It seems like it isn't an exact 60 minute thing but may be a little off depending on how often the servers update is what I am thinking.

I'm not sure about the specifics of why this happens but I have had a single slave die while boosting. Because I had no one to res I had to run back. Later the toon that died was the only one to receive the too many instances entered message.

While boosting in zones where I would hit the instance limit I very accurately recorded times so I new exactly when I would be let back in. This way I could stand afk inside the instance instead of outside afk and get ganked. So I can say for certain that entering an instance while a ghost to res will use up one of your "per hour" budget. However if you are at your limit already you can still get back in to res.

One thing I'm not sure about is if you die more than once, if that uses more than 1 towards your cap or not.

This is what I ended up doing, just taking a short break every 4-5 clears.

My druids did die a couple times, all of them, my warrior did not, that may have contributed to the difference.

    Thanks for the answers.

You can do a very simple test to show that deaths do not subtract 1 from your instances per hour limit. Runn more than 1 char into a new instance get one naked, die, and run back 5 times, then run out with both reset and run back in, you'll see no problem with either one getting in. I believe your time insude the instance is counted and the time the toon spends outside is not counted down from your instance time in an hour.

So say you have 1 toon inside for 1 hour 2 min (enough to make sure he is over the limit) and the other toon dies twice and spends 52min inside and 10min outside in the hour. The second toon will get the message about too many instances in an hour the first will be fine to continue with another instance.

A guildie I was helping in Hellfire got the same message. He 2-boxes and I was using three of my five. One of his toons got the message and couldn't continue to the next instance. He wrote a ticket and was told that it is a known bug and should be fixed soon. We ran all of them the next day w/o trouble. Note: that was last week before 6/2/09 patch.
