Keyclone and alt modifiers

Hi all, I've been playing around some more since my original post and have downloaded keyclone because it intrigued me. Hooowever, I can't for the life of me figure out how to get some of my action hotkeys to transfer

A little background on my setup; I have my main toon actions on 1-6 and alt1-alt6 (easiest for my hands to reach) with some on shift1-shift6. I have these combinations set up to send a hotstring to the other client, and those hotstrings bound to shift/alt/ctrl-insert/home/etc, and bindpad has those combos bound to /assist party 1 and /click the same action bar button as on toon1. Simple setup I know, but I'm only PvE questing or boosting and it works for me - I really liked the look of FTL but for two toons it just wasn't worth spending the time every new roll and every time I train to set it all up, this is generic across characters and I can totally forget about it.

Anyway, the problem is that my action bars bound to alt modifiers won't transfer. All the others work fine, and though I've found a few threads here saying alt has issues, they all seem pretty old. Full example of my sequence:

Alt-2 --(Keyclone)--> SDAT (hotstring) --(Keyclone)--> ctrl-home --(Bindpad)--> /assist Party 1; /click MultiBarBottomLeftAction2

Don't remember exaclty what the /click code is because I'm at work, but you know what I mean. None of this is bound to anything else in game or otherwise, and I use the "pass only hotstrings" option (my god how useful is that?!), yet it just won't pass it. I've heard the "strict" settings could be something to do with it, but not sure which or how...

Any help?

When I was having trouble with alt passing it was bound some where else. Specifically to self cast if i remember correctly. I pretty much went thru and unbound everything and started fresh. Don't forget about shift loot and the self casts.

Hmm, I'll try that tonight and make sure ctrl and alt aren't bound to anything ...although saying that, I'm pretty sure shift is bound to be auto loot, and shift modifier still works fine ?(

I'm just not sure where or how that would cause the problem... I mean when I press alt-1 on my main, he happilly fires off the skill. When I use the bindpad test function on the slave, or press ctrl-ins, he happily fires off the skill. When I set Keyclone to send that hotstring using just 1 rather than alt-1, slave fires off the skill in alt-1 and main fires off 1. All as expected.

Sooo, all that leads me to believe that Keyclone just isn't sending the string when the keystroke for that string includes an alt modifier, and I just can't figure out why! Maybe I'll try KC'ing two notepads together for peace of mind :P

It's been awhile and I can't remember the exact problem without looking up my own posts (possible one of the old ones you found), but I had enough trouble with alt in hotstrings that I switched software altogether. I expected Keyclone to have fixed it by now, but maybe it's one of those elusive bugs that's hard to pin down. I know that when I posted, I got some well-meaning responses but nothing that really applied to my problem, giving me the impression I was the only one. Hopefully you'll find that it is something simple, a typo in a macro or something bound elsewhere, but if you do narrow it down to the software, definitely make sure Rob knows.

Hmm, thanks - any recommendations? I messed around some more last night and and while I can't say for certain that it's a KC issue, I press alt-1 and it sends 1 instead. All the macros etc are exactly the same as for non-modified, and I even went through my keybinds and removed any that included alt (aside from the hotbars which are the reason I'm trying to use this!) and still no change

Are you running on a single machine, or two machines?

I never got KC to work properly across machines - pretty much all key modifiers got intermittently lost in transit - but I've never had the problem on a single machine.

Do the extended keys work other other applications? Try it with Notepad or something and go through the menus.

Not much help, I know, but I just want to fill in the blanks a bit.

Oh, yeah I missed that from the backstory - I'm running just two apps on one machine. Also, I'm using version 1.8(k I think) if that has any effect. I use pass only hotstrings, and my dnp list is completely empty, neither whitelist nor strict are checked.

Guess I'll give the notepad thing a shot after all!
