    Default WebCam or ScreenCap?

I used to use Mogulus in the past with the ScrCap codec to stream my boxing for friends to watch. However, it did cause a drain on the system, because it's very processor intensive. Now that I'm 5 boxing on my main system, streaming my desktop really isn't an option - I need every ounce of power for keeping my framerate as smooth as it can get.

Therefore, I've been thinking about using a second computer to stream the footage and handle that processing. The concern is getting the picture to that system. The easiest way is obvious - hook up a webcam and point it at the screen. That could go both ways though, from my experience. The refresh rate may end up conflicting with the camera's fps making the result un-viewable.

Another idea I had was using a video in card (maybe an all-in-wonder or something) with my main system on dual display mode in clone mode. As I don't have the required video card it would be a long term solution, anyone tried something like that?

I've been trying to accomplish the same thing for awhile, and the only thing I can't figure out is getting the clone-mode to work right. On my pair of nVidia's, clone-mode always clamps the composite-signal to something around 800x600 resolution and scrolls around following the mouse cursor. That's pretty useless for gaming. Other than setting the resolution on my LCD down to the composite output size, I haven't found a way to avoid the panning.

xzin posted a thread on this a good long while ago - can't seem to dig it up but I believe his solution used VLC to stream over the network then captured that stream for broadcast?
