There's been alot of discussion on this in the recent past. Most useful, perhaps:
Battle.net Accounts and you: How I merged 7 wow accounts to 1 login.
Nice to know they've opening it up in Europe though - I hadn't realised.
edit:
There's no way I'm going to do this until they eventually FORCE me to though! My life is spread across two countries and three houses, so just getting all the damn game keys in one place will take some planning!!
You might also want to check out the WoW-tech support forums and customer service forums before you decide to do this. They have had alot of issues lately with the battle.net merged accts.
I'm overall happy with the merge - I wish there was more benefit to it though; like the ability to switch from one account to another without retyping your password in game (the switch like that only works with the web admin so far) - or even nicer would be the ability to do BOA = all battle.net accounts
The battle.net use a different server for auth and at some point you need to copy/link the launcher in addition to the wow executable for other copies to work; also I've had a few times I couldn't log in using battle.net but still could log in with my remaining non battle net account - but that hasn't happened in a while so I figure they ironed out the kinks now ?
2,3,5 boxing wow with Wow Open Box and MAMA, give them a try!
(was 8 Boxing Wow with HotKeyNet and ISBoxer)
Was streaming on twitch.tv/MooreaTv
Just wanted to throw this out here in case you didn't see, but on the last patch people had issues trying to log in using Battle.net accounts for about 3-4 hours after the servers starting coming online. What irritated people even more is they even created a blue post on the forums stating that those accounts had all been fixed, but still nobody could log in.Originally Posted by 'Moorea',index.php?page=Thread&postID=205352#post2 05352
I'm holding out on merging into a Battle.net account simply to give them more time to work out the kinks. Maybe in a couple more months they will have that authentication process rock solid. I can wait.
Duskwood - Alliance - PvE
Totally agree with Fur. There have been more than a few issues with the battle.net auth servers, basically it's an entire separate system and you are dependent upon it to be up and functional so you can play. I'm staying away from it until it's either required or gives me some tangible benefit with several months of smooth operation.
It is apparently possible to call Blizzard and have them un-link from a battle.net account, somehow, even though they say you can't.
I have been using battle.net for a few months on one of my accounts and moved my others over after I had an issue with one account getting hacked. I did this because I bought an authenticator. I have had absolutely 0 issues with it. I normally play in the evenings CST anywhere from 5pm to 2am.
Yeah, there have been a few times where the Battle.net authentication servers were down when the unlinked account ones were working, but I know there were a few times when the reverse happened as well. I consolidated all five of my accounts into 1 Battle.net account, and haven't regret it once. Like Moorea said, I can't wait till BoA items are Bo(Battle.net)A items :).
