Default Which Duo would get me to 60 the fastest?

I know that's an odd question because dual-boxing is probably the most fun if you are playing characters you enjoy. Let me explain...

I want to switch servers and join some friends, but my dual hunters are only level 31 (which happens to be my highest characters in the game...I'm new). What I want to do is get up a duo as quickly as I can and then use the boosting to get up a character that I really want to play (assuming that the faster characters aren't one I want to end-game with). That way I can start raiding with my friends as soon as possible. Make sense? Any thoughts?

1st off I don't believe it's possible to be faster to duo up 2 characters then boost a 3rd, than it will be to simply level the 3rd right off the bat. Even with RAF and granting levels. So if your goal is to dual-box and raid with your friend endgame ASAP then you should just level the characters you want to raid with. Maybe boost some others later if you want to play other classes or increase the # of accounts you're running.
If you're on RAF and want to maximize it then it's probably best to level 1-60 a few classes that you are sure you want to play.

Questing isn't too bad. I leveled a Warlock solo without any help on a brand new PvE server, from 1-80 in just over 7 days played including leveling tailoring and enchanting. You'll probably be slower, leveling 2 toons at once. Plus I've done the leveling grind many times before (1-70 at least 8 times and 70-80 4 times) so I know exactly what to do and where to go without wasting time. But if you follow a decent quest guide mod (TourGuide, Carbonite, etc) it's still going to be pretty fast, 9-10 days as a guess? for 1-80.

2-boxing and questing with a guide it really won't matter much which classes you choose. Just spec 2x DPS and melt face. Maybe you can get your friends to boost you through some of the low levels. Maybe something like level to 20 via quests, boost to 40 in Scarlet Monastery. Then quest to 45 and boost to 58 in Stratholme. Gear yourself with BoE greens or boss drops from Strat, get a few crafted pieces maybe and you'll be ready for questing through Outlands. The boosting won't take but a few nights, it depends on how much you play and how efficient you are of course, but it's pretty fast even without RAF. You can probably cut at least 25% or more off your leveling time with some efficient boosting.

For speed i'd say 2 hunters, 2 warlocks.

Thanks for the info Stabface. I want to try out a Paladin, so I think I may go Paladin/Mage so I have some DPS to speed things up. Plus I'll have a aoe-tank and an aoe-dps which shouldn't suck. We'll see.

I am on RAF time right now, so that's why I want to dual-box it. 3x the XP will definitely make things go much faster.

I do have one question though, if you wouldn't mind clearing it up. I thought that boosting was when you gift the levels from your RAF account to another character, but the way you described it makes it sound like it's something else. What is boosting exactly? And also is it a bad idea for me to use the gifted levels to get a character up? I would have to grind the RAF account because you can only gift your level or below, right? (i.e. if my RAF account is 10, I can't gift 3 levels to a level 10, but I could gift 1 level to a level 9. IS that right?)

    Thanks again for the input.

Boosting is generally the term used to describe taking a low level toon thru dungeons using a high level toon.

In your case "gifting" will refer to the act of giving levels to a lower level toon to help it to 60 thru RAF.

Yeah your "granter" needs to be higher level than the toon your granting levels to.

I'm sure most people have done it a lot faster but I got my Paladin/Mage to 60 in 1 day 15 hours with RAF. If you want to play a Paladin I recommend a Frost Mage as the second character. From 1-25 you are mostly playing the mage with the Paladin as backup DPS/healer, but once the Mage grabs some core frost talents that make Blizzard more efficient you play the Pally.
You run the Pally around grabbing 4-6 mobs at a time (whatever you can handle), make sure Righteous Fury is up, Consecration, then switched over to the Mage and Blizzard them down. With Righteous Fury up it's almost impossible to pull aggro. Anyway, since your killing 4-6 mobs at a time it's super fast to do quests, plus you get a port with the Mage and heals/res from the Pally. That's my two cents.
