Default Shamans + AoE = Dead

    Right,

I seem to keep walking into the barrier that people simple kill me with AoE.
Mages run in, use the breath and then ignite and my team is gone
Warriors run in and use Bladestorm and I'm gone.

Do any of you lads have any tips on how to prevent that ?

more pvp gear. Dont expect huge results without 600+ resil and 20k health. Against groups at least. A single player shouldn't be a problem usually.

That's a whole lot of dying before I reach that then

It was warriors with their helicopter thingy at 70, and now it's well geared frost mages. If I don't take them out at range, it's free corpse run time for me. I haven't leveled my 70 mage up yet, so I don't know what it is, but when they freeze you and they have something that stuns you, then blizzard. My suggestion is a friendly insta-cast lavaburst volley to say hello before they get near you.

Keep in mind that Lightning Shield will hit the AoE caster once for each of your 5 guys, each time it ticks (assuming you live that long). Later on with a lot of spellpower, it isn't trivial damage. :P

If you're still low level, yeah, it's a pain.

    I run a paladin + 4 shamans or 4 shamans only.

All my shamans are resto offspec for fun and profit. When you go elemental in PvP it's funny pew pew, but when you get resto it's a constant /lol

Try this... 4 shamans as resto with lifegiving weapon instead of flametongue. With blues and some heroics/rep gear you would get near 2k +healing.... or said in other words, your healing totems will heal for 350 - 400 hp each tick.

I usually just drop 4 healing totems, the earth totems farm that consists of armor and agility/attack power totems + 2 antifear totems, then 4 grounding totems and 4 magma totems... Each shaman has improved earh shield on himself, so whoever hits it, the shaman gets near 5k hp restored

After that your tactic changes completely... Now you prefer to have people near you because magma totems are your main DPS. You can tank without problems 6 - 8 melee in close range with 4 shamans and the totems up. 4 x chain heal + healing totems ticking for near 1.5k every 2 seconds + eath shields makes you completely unkillable. Your healing power is like 20k hp/sec. I usually just ignore mages because they barely scratch me through the heling totems and the eath shields.

I have found that I can lead in healing and damage done at the same time using this setup... mostly because half of the horde raid focuses on me and I only have to spam healing spells while they burn on my totems

I might actually have to try that and spend the gold on dual spec, sounds like it would piss some enemies off

This is my gear. Everything is AH/heroics/quest/reputation rewards.

Take a look at the resto spec, it was designed to be viable in PvP and PvE. No improved chain heal because it's a long time cast and when I need extra healing fast I just riptide and spam LHW... that goes like almost instacast after riptiding.
The mana tide totem x 4 will replenish all your shamans mana from 0 to 100% in 15 seconds even while casting, so it's drop and forget in mid fight to become immortal again.

The gryphs for the healing offspec are also intended to work with the earth shield making it 20% more healing when earth shield is up.

With this spec and gryps and my current gear my healing waves do 10k + 2k from the glyph if you heal another shaman, and LHW x 4 does 25 - 30k healing. This combines really good with nature swiftness + Haling Wave macro for emergency situations.
The reincarnation glyph means that you can self res in case some of your shamans dies and you save on mana and time instead of ressing him during 10 seconds. In BGs this is very handy.

Before wasting 1k gold per shaman for the offspec I suggest you to just respec that spec and go to BGs. If you like it, then go offspec with it.

That's an interesting approach, Powerwar. I hadn't considered a pure BG "survival" build whilst grinding for decent gear.

I'm going to shamelessly copy the idea and dual spec all my shammies once they hit 80 - "only" 7 more levels to go.... /wrists

For me personally I would take Cleanse Spirit (at least on the main) and instant Ghost Wolf over Improved Earth Shield and 1 point in Healing Grace, moving the remaining 2 points from Healing Grace to Improved Reincarnation, but that's just personal preference.

    Great idea!
