Default Finished with Warcraft (and gaming in general)

I sure had a blast. Warcraft is very stimulating to the brain and that is what I need. Constant stimulation to my brain. But since I have a very addictive personality this ended up being a problem. All I did was play WoW for about the last year and a half! I haven't created any art, any music gotten any exercise, blah blah.

Today I canceled all 9 of my accounts. I will most likely not be playing WoW again because well I won't be able to play it casually. You know me!

I am going to miss you all. Ended up being on the best server with the best guild I could have ever hoped for.

Thanks for everything and good luck to you all!

Sorry to hear you're quitting, but good luck with your other endeavors.

That being said, a true WoWer never quits, they just take breaks. In the spirit of that statement, see you next expansion!

You'll be back. Trust me As someone who has "left" gaming behind several times due to pretty much the same reasons you mentioned, WoW is just a fun game simply put. I use to be incredibly hardcore player as well and after a few times of going back and forth the "lust" for the game dies off and you'll be able to just enjoy a causal playstyle. I assume you're like I was in that I felt like if I took a break from the game I would get far behind everyone else and that just wasn't acceptable to me back then After awhile you just stop caring about that and just enjoy the game at your own pace.

While I'm sorry to hear you're leaving the community, I wish you lots of luck. You've been an entertaining and insightful poster. Enjoy Life!

After how much leveling you have done(according to your sig). Holy crap if I would not be burnt out also. Sheesh!

Take a break make some music, art and get an excercise bike/weight set. ;p

I think most of us have gone thru what you are going thru. When/if you come back you will be alot more casual.

Damn sham.... You burned yourself out leveling. I burned myself out too. I may cancel my accounts too because it's just not fun anymore. Maybe if we started doing 25man raids it would be exciting. PVP is a bore, heroics are a bore, solo play is a bore. I am in the process of opening a new wine store so this may be a great time to go on a hiatus from wow. Hope you have fun and maybe we can hook up again in the game.

I kinda feel for the OP, I almost reached the same point myself.

Just as a background, I am a full time designer and art director, and a freelance illustrator and artist. I do it all - draw, paint, sculpt, I'm heavily into digital art, and am learning and dabbling with 3-d, mostly with Silo and zBrush.

Any one of those could take all your time, easily.

I indulged in WoW, heavily, about 2 years ago, and burned out much like the OP did - and realized my output art-wise was way down. Not good.

So, now, I do everything in moderation. Wow is for after I've worked on freelance assignments, or worked on a project, or taken care of what I need to do. For example, this past weekend, I had all weekend free, so I wanted to get my team to Northrend.

    Did it happen?

    Heck no!

I found other things to do - I worked on some files, I bought and installed Creative Suite 4 and dabbled with the new tools, I browsed http://www.cgsociety.org/ like I usually do, watched some movies, and Sunday got around to logging in...and leveled my rogue's fishing, and started the fishing and cooking dailies in Dalaran at 71. (Wintergrasp at 71 is...interesting...)

This week, I may get to Northrend, or I may not. I don't care - and I don't care what other people are doing. I'm on my own timetable, and if I don't log on for a week, so what?

THAT is the best way to play. Yes, I know, the game is addicting - but I proved I am not addicted, I just fell into the more powerful forces that Blizzard designs into the game, that makes you itch if you're not logged on and playing.

Let the OP go, and don't say "You'll be back!" Let him go on the path he's chosen with the best wishes possible, and make the same healthy choices when we need to.

It's 9:15 here in CA, dinner over, kitchen clean, I my log on, or I may work on a drawing. Dunno. And that's okay!

You dont quit wow, wow quits you
I used to be hardcore raider. 5 hours a night 7 days a week. Thats all i did. Two summers ago I litteraly played 18 hours a day for 3 months. I did not miss ONE day. I got burned out, and quit for a few months. Now I play casualy, and take breaks and such. I found the perfict medium.

I do hope to see you back, you helped me out a lot when it comes to boxing. Much love and GL in what ever life brings your way.
P.S. Hit you up on myspace bro.
