Default @mages (or those knowing magey stuff)

I'm going to move my mage to my tank account (80 paladin) and therefore run 1 mage and 4 shaman (all lvl 70) as a lvling team purely questing to try and get my bank balance back up after gearing the locks (4 x 80).

I will make one of the shamans the brain whilst the mage will be a clone dps support, looking towards the mage being a group dps buffer over being pwn dps.

Keeping in mind that the mage wont be blinking, and proc watch maybe slightly more difficult. Click casting (blizzard eg) is not box friendly btw.

Will edit when i have a better idea of what spec to run. I was thinking a scroch heavy build? I haven't played my mage for some time and back in the day was mainly frost AOE spec so need to look at glyphs etc as well.

    look fwd to some feedback

Not sure why you dont make the mage lead.
You'll benefit from all the targetted aoe, and i would think it's much easier to have 1lead+4 similar followers rather than 1 lead and 3 followers+1 different follower.
With a frost mage you'll also have a much easier time using the water elemental if he's lead.

if it's mainly leveling then you shouldn't be afraid that your mage will take the beating, most mobs should be dead by the time they reach him i'd think.

Typically I'd probably go fire spec for PVE levelling. However, if your mage is lead, frost might actually be better. Slow down those mobs and knock them down before they even get to you. Especially since DPS won't be an issue with 4 shaman.

Also, having the 4 shaman as slaves really won't be any different than having 3 shaman and 1 mage as slaves. It may seem that since they are all the same it works better, but IMO it really it makes no difference. You press 1 button and DPS. What does it matter if you cast lightning bolt or fireball?? It would only matter if it were melee versus ranged DPS IMO. Although, I'd still make the mage lead for other reasons unless you want to make one of your shaman enhancement.

    go frost becuase...

any other spec youl have to drink just becuase your mage is OOM
nice slow on targets meaning even some elites wont get to melle
replenishment mana regen so no one will ever need to drink
eas as hell to macro its just spam frostbolt.

Id suggest leading with mage as others already have, it'll mean your FB will hit first slowing the target and gives you access to all the mage utility aoe blizz etc

Frost Mage leader plus elem shaman slaves is how I run half of the time. As the others say, leading with a frost mage is great - you get all that control that a frost mage has right at your fingertips.
