    Default Innerspace mouse problems

Just looking for a bit of support on a problem with getting my new setup sorted.

I have been boxing for over 12 months now. Started with keyclone, then innerspace. Have just migrated to a new core i7 system on vista 64 and having a few bugs with innerspace/ISboxer that I was looking for a hand with.

I have got ISboxer setup the way I would like, but I'm having problems with the mouse function in all of the clients. A single mouse click causes the screen to rotate approx 60 degrees and mouse release causes a further rotation. If I click and drag in any direction, the screen rotates in a clockwise direction until the drag stops. This problem occurs in single iterations of the IS wow default profile and when starting my ISboxer group through IS. It does not however happen when I play Wow through the normal executable.

I'm sure there is something simple going on here, but for the life of me I can't put my finger on it. The instances start in 800X600, I play 5 instances on a 2560x1600 screen setup with the main instance on the bulk of the screen, with the 5 slaves (one empty slot) stacked vertical down the right hand side. I use a virtual config.wtf file to load each instance from the 1 WoW install.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers

i recently ran into a problem with innerspace on my laptop, becuase it has dual language keyboard.(eng and korean). For some reason i couldnt type, broadcast, and the mouse would jerk back and forth on its own. But to solve the problem i set my system locale to English on windows vista, started IS in administrator, and everything worked. This may be the problem for you if you are not a native english speaker and are using IS on vista. However, you still might want to contact Lax over on the IS irc.

Did you change anything in Inner Space itself? If you went and found the "Force Windowed" setting for example, that might cause strange behavior in various games (hence the "not recommended" note). Honestly since I fixed mouse positioning issues a few months ago I haven't heard of anyone having such an issue, and therefore I'm not sure how you managed to do it Do you have hardware cursor off in WoW perhaps? That might break things.

Hmmm, none of the above unfortunately. Whilst I did find the forced window option, I followed recommendations (or negative recommendations) and left it deselected. Hardware cursor is definitely selected in Wow.

Two strange things. WoW launched outside of IS seems to be immune to the problem. My laptop on which I previously boxed using Zanthor's original IS setup without ISboxer is immune to the problem.

I'll try and catch you on irc in the next couple of days if possible Lax.

Sorry Lax, not catching you in irc, it seems the old timezone difference isn't so good...

Playing around with this I have notcied that clicking my mouse in the active wow field results in it disappearing when held, then popping up in a position closer to the upper left corner. This happens consistently all over the screen, with the endpoint being the upper left corner. So I was thinking, perhaps IS thinks my screen is a certain pixel size, whilst in fact, it appears to me to be bigger.

I am sure there is a more technical way to explain this, but bear with my layman's understanding.

Anyway, I went into window layout to check the size of each region. Lo and behold my region setup uses an area from 0,0 to 1707,1065. This is using the predefined computer option on the drop down menu. I changed to current computer and there was no change in the total size of area covered by all regions, despite having a 2560X1600 monitor.

I had not previously setup my computer as I box on the one machine, but I decided to do so in order to specify my screen size. I changed the properties in //display so that screen boundaries and screen maximum area both showed 0,0 2560,1600. Unfortunately when I initiated my character set now, my windows were all oversized and did not fit on the screen.

I'm not sure if I have managed to bugger something up in the initial config, but I think this discrepancy is what is stuffing around with the mouse function. Any ideas on how to sort this Lax?

    Cheers

What build of IS are you running? I had this problem a long time ago but as Lax mentioned, it's been fixed for a while... is it possible you haven't restarted IS in 3 months?

Heh, I wish :P (or at least my wife does )

    Build 4988 just to clarify.

Do you think the discrepancy between the window layout config in isboxer and my screen size would be the problem? Strange that the same problem occurs with standard single instances in WoW however. As I mentioned also, I have no problems with exactly the same setup on my laptop which has a 1920 x 1200 screen.

    Cheers

EDIT: Thinking back I couldn't remember if I just copy/pasted my IS folder or reinstalled it on the new system, so I just uninstalled and reinstalled again. Still running into the same issue with both single instances of wow and when launching my IS profile...

If it happens with just launching a window via IS, it's got nothing at all to do with your ISBoxer config. I don't know what "discrepancy" you're describing though, if the screen size in ISBoxer isn't your current resolution/screen layout, you can create a new window layout that has the right sizes, or in the Computer box on the right hand side in the region editor panel, select Current Computer and it will update. Otherwise the sizes shouldn't matter one bit, anything you can configure through ISBoxer should be supported. That is, unless you have the window set to be a larger size than your desktop size, in which case I could fathom this being an issue.

But no, it'd have to be something to do either with other mouse software or window management software, as if somehow you're changing how the mouse or game window is working, or you somehow have a combination of options selected that nobody else has selected until you, that happens to produce this issue in combination with Inner Space.

Freshly re-installed version of IS without changing any settings, so shouldn't be anything there.

The discrepancy I mentioned is that the windows layout screen in ISboxer has the bottom right point of the bottom right window listed as location 1707,1065. I was just assuming that the location would correspond to the displayed pixels 1:1 and thus on a 2560x1600 screen, the bottom right location would be 2560,1600. I tried to rectify this by setting up my computer in the computers section and specifying a display with the dimensions 0,0,2560,1600. Windows layout was fine then, letting me setup over the full size, but when I loaded them up through IS, they were off the screen.

Now I realise that if the same mouse issue is occurring through IS without loading my character set it is unlikely to be a problem with ISboxer. What I was wondering however is if IS somehow changes the display ratio?

Either way, I'll keep trying different things, from the sounds of it, it is an isolated problem so I guess its not going to be something thats easy to troubleshoot anyway.

    Cheers
