Here's a sound game plan for you:

Reimage your machine(s) and reinstall everything to be sure you are virus free.
Install anti-virus software.
If you're running Windows XP (or 2000 I suppose) do not log in as an administrator. Create an account for you and only use the administrative account when you need to install something.
Ensure you're actually patching your machine.
Do not install questionable software or software from untrusted sources.

Never get hacked again. Yay!
Sadly I do all this (yes I am a more than a little computer savvy although got lazy the first time!)

I was running a fresh install of vista. I have a seperate user and admin accounts. I only play from the user account. All security patches are applied. I use real time virus scanning (AVG) and Spyware protection (Adaware). The only downloads I have done except for drivers and patches are:

Spybot
Adaware
AVG
Other spyware/malware diagnostic tools
Firefox
Innerspace
ISBoxer
Jamba
Grid (today)
Autobar (today)
Clique (today)

I suspect whatever is causing my problems was piggybacking one of those addons as within the hour of DLing I was hacked
Downloaded from Curse and Wowinterface. Up until a month ago I had never ever been hacked.

Bah just realised I never installed noscripts addon for firefox to combat fishy banner ads etc - a big doh from me on that one.
