    Default Keep getting hacked X(

Anyone got any tips on how to stop getting hacked (no I will not stop looking at pr0n :P )

This is the second time I have been hacked in a month. The first time all 5 accounts were comprimised which I suspect was due to a keylogger as I was probably a little careless with my computer security settings. This time though I have been insanely careful. I have run as many spyware/malware/virus scan programs I can think of and everything comes back clean. What is strange this time is that only 3 accounts were comprimised (confirmed by a GM) so it makes me think it was not a key logger this time (else all 5 most likely would have been - all 5 accounts have seperate passwords that were generated so are strong.

I have ordered an authenticator but DHL always seems to try and deliver when I am not in :cursing: .

Anybody got any tips on how to keep my accounts safe and how to track down this current keylogger/virus/trojan that I can not locate?

    Thanks

Get a good anti-spyware anti-malware program and run it daily. I use malwarebytes and it is great.

Be home when DHL comes by. Seriously. With the authenticator, it is unfeasible for anyone to hack you.

Here's a sound game plan for you:

Reimage your machine(s) and reinstall everything to be sure you are virus free.
    Install anti-virus software.
If you're running Windows XP (or 2000 I suppose) do not log in as an administrator. Create an account for you and only use the administrative account when you need to install something.
Ensure you're actually patching your machine.
Do not install questionable software or software from untrusted sources.

    Never get hacked again. Yay!

Also, if possible (IE if you have 2 PCs), browse wow-related websites from a PC other than the one you play wow on. Lots of hacks come from malicious banner ads that get posted on legitimate community websites before being traced and taken down, so even if you're a totally legit player you could still end up with a trojan from some flash or whatnot banner ad on a legit WOW community website.

I browse alot of wow websites from the PC I play wow on, and I've never been hacked in the 4+ years I've been playing. I've received my fair share of phishing emails but I have always identified them as such simply by the fact they're asking me to either click a link and login to my account to "verify", or reply to their message with all my secret information.

Still, just to be on the safe side, I ordered and am now using an authenticator. Total peace of mind now, even if somebody gets my password and login, they cannot access my account except for a one-in-a-million chance that they guess the correct six-digit code for that 20 second time interval.

Sadly I do all this (yes I am a more than a little computer savvy although got lazy the first time!)

I was running a fresh install of vista. I have a seperate user and admin accounts. I only play from the user account. All security patches are applied. I use real time virus scanning (AVG) and Spyware protection (Adaware). The only downloads I have done except for drivers and patches are:

    Spybot
    Adaware
    AVG
    Other spyware/malware diagnostic tools
    Firefox
    Innerspace
    ISBoxer
    Jamba
    Grid (today)
    Autobar (today)
    Clique (today)

I suspect whatever is causing my problems was piggybacking one of those addons as within the hour of DLing I was hacked
Downloaded from Curse and Wowinterface. Up until a month ago I had never ever been hacked.

Bah just realised I never installed noscripts addon for firefox to combat fishy banner ads etc - a big doh from me on that one.

Ever since I heard people claiming their accounts were compromised by using the curse download client I've started installing all mods by myself, and only ones I thought were pretty reputable.

Not sure if you use that to install your mods but perhaps that could be an indicator.
