Thread: RAF $$$ math

    Default RAF $$$ math

Hi Guys. I stop MB on Dec but now im back on business. I have been looking around the forum looking hows MB doing this days. I found that RAF is our new best friend so i start doing the math to join this super highway. I have 5 accounts so i guess 3 more accounts will work. I think will be Main Acc - (Not RAF - Pally 80 Booster) , 2nd Acc will RAF 3rd,4th and 5th ACC. Then i start the math of how many bucks i will spend for this. On this thread ( How bad is 1-60 without RAF these days? ) Beyond-tec talk about making new accounts, level up to 60 and use the paid transfer back to you main-accounts. Then if thats the way and i want to make 5 groups (just an example) with RAF for just one month (another example), i will need to spend $19.99 (trial to wow vanilla expansion) x3 = $59.97. Then i boost with my pally 5 teams of Warlocks x4, Priest x4, Mage x4, Druid x4 and Shammys x4. That will get me 20 characters lvl 60. Five of this characters will be in my full expansions 2nd account but i will have to pay transfer the other 15 characters to my other 3 full expansion accounts and that will be $405 ( $25 pay transfer x 15 toons) So if my maths are correct i need $464.97 to get 20 lvl 60? (that i still need to lvl from 60-80)

I guess other way to do this could be to get 3 new full expansions account but then will be : $89.97 (Battlechest x3) + $119.97 (Wotlk x3) + $150 ( paid transfer x2 on 3 Acc ) = $359.94

I know that MB can be a little expensive but i found both ways a little too much. Are you guys spending that much on your RAF experience or im missing something? ?(

PS> BTW, sorry to bring another RAF thread to the forum but what is old to you is new for me on my way back :whistling:

Yes, unfortunately, the expansion is a tough pill to swallow by itself, but coupled with the rest of the things like transfers, it does get expensive. I've spent hundreds alone in acccount transfers and name changes.

But it's still a cheap hobby compared to most other things.

I think the only savings you can get is if you level all your guys to 60 and wait until the end to buy the expansion. Hopefully by then the price will be lower (it will go down eventually) or you will find it on sale or get gift cards or get it as a gift.

Not sure I fully understand your transfer scheme though. You currently have 5 accounts but want to RAF up 5 teams of 4? Wouldn't you just need to buy 2 more accounts and RAF them to two current accounts? although, you miss out on some level gifting.

If I understand you correctly, I think you just need 2 (or 3 if you really want the levels to gift, but one account will always lose out regardless) accounts to boost up 4 toons (however many times) to 60. You don't need any expansions on the new accounts at all for this or are you saying you don't have WoTLK on three of your current accounts?

If I were to do RAF again this is how I would set it up with my 5 existing accounts. I would take account 1 as my booster. Account 2 would RAF account a, and account 3 would RAF account b. This would result in only buying 2 new accounts, and 2 paid transfers (per toon) and get 4 toons 3x raf xp bonus. I also would not buy the RAF accounts any expansion sets, unless you are specifically needing a Bloodelf, Goatman or DK to reduce costs as well.

lost me, why the Paid Transfers?

I think buying BattleChests are best in the long run but that just me.
RAF Tour Guide files are obsolete, I went to Zygor

Paid transfers for the new toons because you have existing assets (toons) on your original 5 accounts. If you don't, then don't bother.

For me, im not going to abandon all the work ive done in the past 4-5 years playing these accounts by starting new ones and abandoning my original 5.

Thanks to everyone for the replys.

To Starbuck : Tx for the idea. I will need only 2 new accounts linked/RAF each to one of my old accounts. That way i can make 4 teams and get a complete free extra team.

To Alcattle : The new accounts will have only the wow vanilla for the RAF so i will need to transfer those toons to my older accounts (full expansions BC + WotLK) Even getting only 2 new accounts i will need to spend some money on transfers. I will try to show a litle scheme of the transfers after finish 5 lvl 60 teams. (this class will be only an example bc i already have warlocks and shamans :whistling: )

    Old Account 1 >>>[ RAF ]>>> New Account 1 ........ Old Account 2 >>>[RAF]>>> New Account 2
    Warlock >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Warlock(30lvl gift) >> Warlock >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Warlock(30lvl gift)
    Priest >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Priest(30lvl gift) >>>> Priest >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Priest(30lvl gift)
    Mage >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mage(30lvl gift) >>>> Mage >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Mage(30lvl gift)
    Druid >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Druid(30lvl gift) >>>>Druid >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Druid(30lvl gift)
    Shaman(Made with 60lvl gift) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shaman(Made with 60lvl gift)
    Shaman(Made with 60lvl gift) >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Shaman(Made with 60lvl gift)

I will need to transfer all the toons in New Account 1 & 2 to my Old Accounts 3 & 4 plus 2 of the free shamans to this same accounts ( 3 & 4 ) So after all i will have to pay $250 ( 10 x $25 pay transfer) + the 2 new accounts ($39.98 ) = $289.98. I found this a little too much only bc i still need to lvl those 20 toons from 60-80 (the longest part inch: ) I guess i can lower that cost if i made less teams but was thinking in 5 for the free team. Dunno, maybe i just go and swallow the tough pill like Nisch say Tx again to all for the replys and the ideas. Like always a pleasure to be part of this fine community
