Default Help needed with following and attacking

I'm dual boxing a ret pala and a hunter. I've got everything sorted perfectly except one annoying thing. I have my pala as my main screen, with my hunter on follow. When i attack a mob i press my attack macro about 10yrds out then run into melee on pala (to allow the hunter the 5yrds range). However hunter is still on follow, follows the pala, and about 60% of the time ends up melee'ing the mob which is fairly annoying. Is there any way to cancel the follow on my hunter, or otherwise, so it stays put at range?

    Thanks in advance

Bind another key to any movement key to break follow?

I would think to put a movement key, then hunter mark, and pet attack would work on a set up macro. Depending on your "PASS" list "S" or Down arrow will move the hunter and break follow.

Channeling skills will also break follow and I think aimed shot is channeled...?

As others have said, the solultion is to bind a unique movement key to your hunter and just tap it before you engage.

That will break follow, leaving your hunter wherever he was when you tapped the button.

Alternatively, you could move the pally a bit once the hunter's meleed the mob once because that will break follow too. Not as neat or well controlled as just tapping a movement key though.

An alternate method would be to stop both toons in your hunters ideal distance and let him initiate the attack, bringing the mob to your toons. I ran a Pally/Preist/Hunter trio with the Pally leading the alts and used this method pretty successfully. I had the toolbars set up so that the same keypress would set the pally into Attack, the priest would Smite, and hunter would Auto-shoot. The pet will be the first to tank, but agro will bring the mob as far as your Pally who can take over agro.
