Unless you are using RAF or plan on making up a ton of that XP in instances, you will not be able to skip collection quests, you are going to have to just pull through them. I personally don't even mind them, you get more coin from the mobs you kill, and honestly WOTLK collection quests are much easier than BC it seems, i am have a pretty easy time in WOTLK (I just finally upgraded this week)

Also, this may not be doable by everyone depending on your employer, or your personal preferences -- but a bag of some high quality cannabis, is more than enough to get you through a bunch of boring collection quests  Only side effect is you will have to take breaks to run to the kitchen for munchies.
    Best way to do it.

Pre RAF days, my first 5man group was a priest and 4 mages. other than getting to level 20 by mostly grinding in a few select overworld places, as at the time, thats when Arcane Explosion became instant cast via talents and my priest picked up holy nova. I ground totaly in instances. I must have ran Shadowfang Keep about 40 times to get all the cloth drops off the last guy for all 5 of my guys. If I remember right there were 3 drops for each toon to get. I did the same with SM and Sunken Temple etc.

With the reduction in xp needed to level 1-70, you can easily get to 70 w/o doing any collection quests by doing kill quests and just grinding and it wont be painfull.

Northrend and the 70-80 run... If you want to unlock stuff like dailies. your going to just have to bite the bullet. My current group is grinding out every quest I can get my hands on, but im enjoying the lore and I know that there is only so many quests and things to do in this expansion and I feel I will have them all done to my satisfaction before the next expando pack comes out. I will say this. There is no way in hell ill do this again with another group. Im already getting the urge to start a new 5man group as collection quests now are nothing more than time sinks at level 80, and I have 4.5 zones untouched in Northrend.

WoLK seems to me like one big anti-boxing mess.
I've reached 74 and decided to have a go at some more quest and it's like an XP wall if your a multiboxer.
They have quests that only one person at a time can do them. there is one in coldara, the "rifle the bodies" quest in dragonblight has it so only have one body that can give the item and it has a slow respawn rate of like 2 minutes or more.
They have some quests where only one person can mount at a time, can't follow someone at particular times, the loss of focus when you dismount a quest mount/vehicle.
The zones where if your all not on the same quest you can't see each other.

The problem I have of staying in the dungeons is that they are the same dungeons I'm going to have to run through to get my reputation up at 80 and if I run them 20x times now I'll be sick of them by 80.
I think it was artfully done in that a solo player probably won't ever notice these changes and xp rates for the solo player are just fine.
But for a game that supposedly supports multiboxing it's getting very anti-boxing.

70-80 is horrible though... I wish Blizz would add some feature to reduce the levelling requirement on accounts that already have a max level toon on in.
Please, god..er... blizzard, don't make leveling any easier than it already is. I don't care what the reason.

Yes, collection quests are harder than kill quests, but remember, you get 5 quest turn ins just for killing 15 mobs instead of 75 mobs if you single boxed them all on non-collection quests. You get multiple credits for kills on "plant the flag in the corpse" crap. You get 5x the gold on group quests for killing one elite that took 2 volleys of lightning bolt instead of the normal one.

It's easy to look and complain about the disadvantages of a situation, but when you take into account the advantages, it's not really as bad as it seems.

One other thing to realize is that even when you single box (this was pre-RAF), a majority of your XP actually got was from mob kills. You "had" to grind during different stages of your leveling despite best efforts to keep up with xp. (Unless you instanced or only lvl'd on rested) Vanilla wow zones didn't have the 100+ quests in them to get xp from. Outland and Northrend are simple just for that fact.

They did, sortta, by letting your max level guys buy the 10% XP boost shoulders ( [url='http://www.wowwiki.com/Heirloom
http://www.wowwiki.com/Heirloom[/url] ) and then mail them to your next group down.
It's not a huge boost, but every bit helps on that long grind to 80.
Yeah, I really wish they made more items to buy that had the XP boost. My rogue has the shoulders, trinket and 2 weapons, and my main has about 230 emblems with absolutely nothing left to buy except trade em for gold.

Im really not finding collection quests anywhere near as bad now the interact with target key is in game. Just set slaves on auto loot kill a bunch of mobs then run around spamming interact with target on all the corpses. Sure it takes longer than a kill quest but it doesnt take as long as if you level 5 characters seperately.
