Default How do you level while avoiding collection quests?

I just started to level a Paladin+4xShaman team. I am only at level 11 but finding it very hard to find quests that are not "collection quests" as these are a HUGE pain to do 5x over. By "collection quests" I mean quests that involve having to retreive an item from a mob or from an object, for EVERY character. Quest xp is really great with RAF bonus but killing mobs is not that great for levelling, even with RAF bonus. The problem is that it seems that almost every quest I am getting seems to be some sort of collection quest.

So what are my options, suck it up and continue, hoping that at higher levels this improves a lot or find a starter zone with much less "collection quests", or .....?

Looking for tips on how to level fast with a 5xTeam.

Follow the guide in this post.

It's been working great for me, and judging by the responses in the thread, for many others as well.
RaF is done.

Welcome to World of QuestCollectionCraft. It'll only get worse. Especially 70-80. Best advice is go instance when you can't stand to do collections, and go do collections when you can't stand to instance.

You can bind your interact with target to a key so you can tell the slaves to loot the corpse for the quest item, that should help tons.

70-80 is so full of collections is hurts.
I have serious collection quest burnout... I really can't stand WoLK questing because of this.

My team made great progress from 70-72 doing BC dungeons, Magisters Terrace and old world dailies ( non-collection )
I finally decided to do some northend quests and felt like I wasted 4 hours getting 2 bars.
you are litterally forced to do 2-3 collection quests to open up other quests, you have no option but to do them.
Quest rewards are better, XP/kill is better and yet in the long run overall XP/Hour is far less.

I guess I'll just keep doing dungens while rested.

I leveled 3 from 70-80 off northrend quests (no instances) with little problems, there was a couple quests that was terrible, but how I thought of it, was I was going to be out killing shit anyway, might as well get the drops. Took me about 5 weeks to level my 3 to 80. But I was also raiding 3-4 nights a weeks and still running tons and tons of heroics on my druid.

It seems really daunting, and it kinda is, but what I did was just set small goals. That's what keeps the game fun for me, everything I do, I set small goals for myself. I just did 1 zone at a time till I had the achievement.

It hasn't been updated in a few months but will still work properly as long as you allow the use of out-of-date addons.

Basically, it just automates the looting of quest-related items by your characters, useful on slaves to avoid picking all the crap that you don't need. I also use a quest announcer that will broadcast to my main the progress with quests (Soandso has collected 4/12 of POS).

Collection quests must be a pain on a 5-box team. They're not so bad on a 2-box team that I run, I guess I like them actually because the extra kills required offset the reduced xp I'm getting from kills since my toons are not RAF'ed (I already owned both accounts and wanted a dual BE team without having to open a 3rd account AND upgrade it to TBC to get a BE).

I had particular fun doing the 'collect 30 human skulls' quest in Hillsbrad. Prot pally and holy priest, I pulled about 12 mobs at once and just AE tanked them while the priest healed me. I got all 60 skulls in 4-5 pulls like that

I just started levelling my 2nd group from 70 to 80... its way more painful than I remembered it being.. but I had the motivation of the rush to 80, and seeing all the new content for the first time when I levelled my 1st team...

For my 2nd team, I am trying to accept collection quests as soon as possible, working on the other quests first, and turning them in when they get complete, only grinding out hte remainder fo the collection quests when I have completeld and turned in all other quests in the area...

This way, I can collect a collection quest over the time I did 2 or 3 steps in a chain that didn't have collection quests in the area.

70-80 is horrible though... I wish Blizz would add some feature to reduce the levelling requirement on accounts that already have a max level toon on in.

They did, sortta, by letting your max level guys buy the 10% XP boost shoulders ( http://www.wowwiki.com/Heirloom ) and then mail them to your next group down.
It's not a huge boost, but every bit helps on that long grind to 80.
