8 GB DDR3 1333 Ram kingston/OCZ/Crosair/GeiL?

could anyone tell me what to get? :P i realy dont know..
atm i have 4gig of OCZ DDR3 1333 but i need an upgrade.
my setup:

MSI X48 Platinum
C2D E8400 @ 3.0Ghz
4G OCZ DDR3 1333
EAH 3870x2 1g
750w GameXtreme PSU
Win XP.

now i used to get #132 errors when in SW ect ect. and all wow crashes.
now im thinking of dropping the ram, CPU and the video card and sell it. and buy this instead:

Core 2 Quad Q9650 @ 3.0Ghz not sure if this is good..
need new 8gig ram.. but i dont know what is good..
New videocard.. realy dont know what.. i think the ENGT285 is a bit expensive.. but if you guys say its the one.. i can afford it..
but maybe EN9600GT??
also thinking of swiching to Windows 7 64x.

btw this is for 5 boxing.
please post your oppinion wich could help me make a choise.

CPU is good
8 GB is good, get DDR2 800 or 1066, really cheap now a days. Check the brands that MSI recommends, cross check what they recommend with the different vendors web sites. Check popular websites like newegg and read the reviews in there - you got to take them with a grain of salt, but you should be able to pickup trends like specific issues with a particular type of RAM.
As for video card, my good old 8800 GT is still an awesome card. I would suggest a 9800GT instead of 9600GT, anything above will be fine.

As for Windows 7 64x, there hasn't been a final release has it? which means is still not "production" ready software. If you don't like dealing with possible OS issues I would recommend vista 64 instead ...

Replace that Crossfire videocard setup with a single powerful GPU ( 4890, or gtx 285 )... you're only hurting yourself using crossfire ( or sli )

Lastly, as far as RAM goes I'm a huge fan of Corsair. I buy Corsair whenever looking for PSUs and RAM. Get 2 of these:

and then my motherboard only supports ddr3... so i have to get a ddr3.... dont care about how much they costs. i do care how much my videocard costs... i think the 9800 sounds good..

still... i dont know shit about ram... and cant find where msi advices a brand or type of ram.. so realy dont know anything yet.. all i know is that i can only put in DDR3. and i would like to have 1333 mhz.

I was too tired to post last nite, but I agree, where the hell did you say your had 2 video cards? You didn't. ?( The 3870x2 is one card.

As for the ram thing, if you go to your product download page at MSI they should have a Qualified Vendors List that lists the ram and what combos they certified at board release time. I am using ram on both my MBs that are from mfg's on QVL's but not the exact part numbers listed.

You have one of the hybrid boards with core 2 and ddr3 (which should really rock), so look for the ddr3 by any of the big mfg Kingston/corsair/ocz etc. If you can afford the higher speed ram then getting a reasonably priced 1600mhz set is great because it leaves you some headroom if you OC and the ratios end up a bit funky. They do sell them in diferent packaging for the triple channel (i7) and dual channel (what you need). Make sure you don't buy more than you need.

Your current setup may be crashing due to a configuration issue with the ram or cpu bus speeds/voltages. The E8400 is a good overclocker and should sell quickly if you choose to do so.

The Q9xxx series are great processors and run much cooler than the Q6xxx quads. I would get one of the slower clock speeds and just OC it a bit to save some $$.

I am using Win7 RC on two different quad core setups with no driver issues at all. The Q6600 machine has a MSI p7n platinum mb with no issues. The i7 machine has a asus p6t (plain), also with no issues.

Get a current generation video card with as much video ram as you can afford. I don't think the x2 cards have very mature drivers so get a single gpu card for your gaming machine. Wow doesn't lean on the video card very hard at all, you don't need a ton of video power. I just gave a friend my old P4 3.2 with a 6800gt for non-boxing wow.

The ASUS EAH3870 X2 1GB TOP - which is quite a mouthful to say, by the way - packs in twin ATI RV680 GPUs, packaged together in Crossfire mode on a single PCI Express videocard.

Ya its a single card, but because its still using crossfire its just like two seperate cards.

It "is" basically crossfire.

Notice the 4 DVI ports?
Notice how the name has x2 in it?

The card you have is essentially 2 cards slapped together into one.


And the bad part about that is, WoW doesn't take advantage of dual video cards, like you have. Essentially WoW is only using 1/2 of your video card/s.


THAT is why I said to get a powerful single GPU card, like you DONT have.


It's 100% pointless to upgrade to 8gb of RAM with the current video card you have.

For my main computer I use currently corsair dominator gt's. Sometimes crucial ballistix's. For computers #2 and #3 , I use the old set from my main computers if I can, so..corsair/crucial. For computers #4 to #13, I use GSkill ram.

I like GSkill. There is always a deal going on for GSkill ram. It is always cheap, even for their low latency high speed stuff. I have never had a problem with their ram and I am running 20 sticks of it. Corsair or Crucial are very reliable companies. I usually get whichever has the best deal for what I want at that time. Corsair does usually have better looking heatcovers though.

Video cards, NV has GTS250's which are the new 9800GTX, can get thouse for under $150 for the 1gb version and much less for the 512.

GTX 280's can be found for well under $300 now if you look around

and they are just about as good as GTX 285's . Actually found one before for $229 after a $30 mail-in rebate.

4890's are almost as good as GTX 285's and certainly better then anything else other then the GTX285 (or the dual GPU/card cards). They sell at @$250, but seen em as low as $209.

I am running WIndows 7 RC1 x64. No problems with EQ2, no idea on WoW, but I doubt there will be much problems if any. An RC is a release candidate and probably in 3 months it will go to RTM status or RC2. Vista went to RC2 before RTM, but WIndows 7 is doing so well, it may just go straight to RTM (release to manufacturing). I think, if you are going to have to pay money to get a Vista OS, than you should diffinently go WIndows 7 instead, because Windows 7 is diffinently better then Vista will ever be and regaurdless of what potential problems you may encounter durring the RC period it will probably be worth putting up with if saving @$100 means anything to you....since windos 7 RC is free for a year. You buy Vista and eventually migrate over to WIndows 7, because it really is so much better, then you lose whatever $$ you spent on vista. You use WIndows 7 RC for free and find out it has too many problems to deal with (doubtfull), so you then get a vista OS and pay what you were gonna pay anyway. You use Windows 7 RC and liek it and eventually get the retail version. Honestly, I think for anybody, their best course is to use windows 7 rc at this time.
