Default Is there a new recommended way to set the cpu affinity?

I noticed that I can now check and assign multiple cpu affinity's when creating a new command.

Did it have that functionality in the past? If not, what are the recommended settings for a quad core with 5 clients?

Is there an existing thread on this?

    Thanks

the checkboxes for cpu affinity are new with v1.9. it gives you the ability to allow each wow to use the cores you specify.

for wow, checking more then 2 boxes would not matter as it is optimized for a dual-core (to the best of my knowledge). if you have a dual-core, just leave the boxes unchecked and wow will use both anyhow.

if you have a quad core or the new i7 chip (8 cores), then you have something to play with.

check out this thread for my post on the subject: [Keyclone] quad core or i7 performance suggestion

please post to the thread if its helpful (it'll stay on the top of the forums if you bump it)

if you have any other questions, please feel free to drop me a note.

    have fun,

Yes...that link is very helpful. I guess I skipped/missed it because it didn't have your name or the "keyclone" tag attached. I can set the cpu affinity now, but it looks like I'm not versed in the ways of the force when it comes to Vista and it's permission handling. I set up the whole command string and voila...it didn't save it. Do I need to set the master permissions for the keyclone folder to something special and if so, how?

    Thanks

    ahhh... vista

ok.. the easiest way to fix the permissions issue is this:

    o exit keyclone
o rename your keyclone folder (or save your keyclone.ini file to retain the settings)
o delete your keyclone shortcut from the desktop
o re-install keyclone... but this time, right-click the install binary, run-as-admin
o find the keyclone folder... find the keyclone program... right-click/send-to/desktop
o find shortcut on desktop. right-click/properties/advanced/always-run-as-admin

    done

your settings should be able to save into the folder. if not, please let me know
