    Default Tri-Box 3 mages

    Hi All

I am kind of new to the multiboxing way of life and have been testing dual boxing for a week or two now.
I now have a third account online and I am trying to figure out what to level first with RAF.

I thought 3 mages or 2 mages and 1 Priest to see how that went.
My only concern is the lack of a tank, or healing in the first group...would this be an issue?

Can you let me know your thoughts, and what would have greater staying power.
Also, spec wise I was thinking a frosty and two fire mages. Or one of each and a shadow priest?

Finally would using a warlock (or two) help with last-a-bility?

    Help greatly appreciated

It really depends on what you want to get out of the team in the end. If you want to run instances, get a tank class, a healer class and a dps. Warlock pets can only do so much before a real tank is needed in instances. It is so much easier filling 2dps spots than a tank, healer or both. For questing, forget healing, with a triple box setup nothing will get near you. Given that you are using RaF, I suggest pure questing, avoid the collection quests, and you will be 60 in no time at all, with very little down time regardless of what classes you choose.

I am always a strong proponent of triple mages, as I have run dual-, triple-, quad- and quint mage setups, simply for the sheer firepower in pvp and quests. Whether you spec them the same or differently will depend on your style of play and preference, but I always found the same spec (fire!!!!) was the easiest to manage. Their problem in any drawn out situation is survivability, assuming whatever you target can survive the sheer burst dps you can put out, and 3 x sheep and 3 x ice nova gives you a great deal of control over many situations.

Others here will tell you they enjoy the mixup of different classes; no-ones wrong, we're all here to have fun however we create our group. The best thing you can do is try something out for a level or two, and if the differences in spells / cast times between classes concerns you at all then that will tell you all you need to know.

    Good luck with your decision

i dont think youd gain much by mixing up the specs. id go all fire or frost for leveling its just easier. you dont have any spec specific advantages until maybe replenishment but thats way late in the game.

I was planning on running instances as well as questing just to spice things up.

I am now leaning towards a lock with pet acting as tank, and utilize the DoTs and curses.
Definetely a mage for CC and DPS.

Now I am in two minds as to filling the third slot:
Either use a shammy as buff/healing
Or have a Priest in there instead.

Would the above give better survivability in instances?
I am not worried about macros etc as I have those fairly well sorted now after a bit of work.

they both have there pros and cons. i prefer shammy heals though. also priests have no poison removal that i know of. im a little bias and im not sure its warranted but i know ive had better runs with shammy heals than priest heals. that doesnt actually mean anything its just my personal experience

plus shammys make the general area youre in prettier with their totemic decor :P

You definitely will need a tank. I took my mage/mage/priest tri group to RC at level 21 and got my ass handed to me simply because I didn't have a tank. You could run a pally/mage/mage group or a shaman/mage/mage group just so you have someone that wears some kind of armor other than rags, and you have a bit of healing to boot. As another person said, good luck with your decision and keep us posted.
