Default Gearing for hit or haste?

With my 4 Draenei shaman, i think hit cap for Heroics is 85, which i am at. I probabliy will never raid 10 or 25 man....unless its a pug for VoA.....i am mainly running 5mans and pvp. Im going to be purchasing the Wg helm and Im not sure if I need the extra hit for something down the road or should I just go with haste? Atm I will prob get more out of the haste......but I dont want to get the haste helm and 2-3 months from now realize I need more hit for something.

    So, which one?

    Both.

You should have a set for heroics and one for raids (if interested).

Just get haste. Sure you'll miss more. But you'll do it more quickly!

Was curious about this also according to
    http://www.wowwiki.com/Spell_hit
Draenei shaman class with Elemental Precision and Heroic Presence against a level 82 critter needs 53 to hit.
No idea if that is still correct though since last patch.

It dep on what u want to do. if u are going for 5 man heroic, then probly haste. you shld have around 60+ hit rating with rev chest and feet.

after u start farming well for emblem, u shld go hit rating. Coz u might probly want to go for 10-25man instance, and hit rating is impt.

    cap is 368 if i m correct.

Haste makes your mana go away quicker [s]and it doesn't work on instant effect spells.[/s] ([edit] It can actually make the GCD shrink to 1 second according to wowwiki)
    First hit, then the rest.

(and personally I don't like haste rating at all, because of the mentioned reason. I'd rather stack crit or spellpower instead)

But if you want to do raiding, you need to compare it to a level 83 mob.

Beeing hit capped even just for heroics is the biggest upgrade an elemental shaman have!

The elitists claim that after beeing hit capped and having 2200 spelldamage you should aim for 550ish haste rating.

You should really have different sets with different values of hit rating. If you aren't capped, +hit is the single most importan stat, but if you are capped, extra +hit is totally wasted.

For Heroics you should aim for 3%, for 10 man 14% and for 25 man 11% (10% if you are alliance). 25 man requires less because you can assume you have a bala druid or shadow priest in the raid (and a draenei in the party if you are alliance) while in 10 man you can't be sure.

Edit: of course if you are a draenei you can lower by 1% also heroic and 10 man cap.

actually, at one point, maybe with epic gems, we will start gearing for haste again, just like tbc, for now 19 spl dmg gem is better than 16 haste, in full ulduar gear haste will scale better than spell power. 9 spell power and 8 haste might be the answer here.
The point was to have 508 haste to be able to squeeze another LB into Your rotation, no matter what Your spell damage is.

so just confirming here: I only do 5 man heroics am horde and so on my shammies need 6% spell hit as boss level is 82. I currently have 10.43% hit and so could free up 4.43% or approx 116 hit from my gear and put it into something else as it's wasted? There's no way at the moment that I'll raid as I'm pretty much the only active 80 boxer on my realm.
