But keep in mind, houses are per character, not account, so you can buy houses of varying levels for each of your characters depending on what you can afford or what you need.
I've just been using one house and letting the followers have access to it. Everyone dumps their house items in it.
Sad that it looks as messy as our house IRL. :P
