EVE Online Resurgence?

I've noticed a few EVE related threads recently so I thought I'd check out the new expansion and try out the 'new player experience'. I'm very impressed by the learning queue; EVE has needed something like that for so long.

Other than that it's just more high end content for the 'leet' PVP players.

Nonetheless I'd still be up for some multiboxing team ups if anyone else is interested. I have a bunch of miner and combat accounts that are on a special £9.95 restart offer and it should be possible to make enough money mining to play for free using the PLEX items you can buy in the market.

Is anyone else interested in joining forces?

I'd mostly like to stick to 0.5 and above space as I'm tired of giving the wanky pirates free griefing opportunities. Obviously this means less ISK per hour but perhaps if a few of us get together we can make it work?

Thoughts? Suggestions?

where did you find the 9.95 restart offer?

It's a hold over from a while ago - they offered 5 days free play and then 9.95 to restart - so I took their free play on my 16(?) accounts and then didn't sign up - they'll probably do it again next year.

Eve in 0.0 was a lot of fun... while it lasted. My problem with Eve is the advancement - not that it was static time based but that in order to maximize your advancement you had to have expensive as shit implants in your head which prevented you from being able to do anything fun at the time or even to mine without risk of losing it. So you had to choose between grinding and advancement which I found unacceptable. I'm not going to leave my 8 accounts parked in a hanger, paying monthly fees which I normally have no problem paying, in order to advance at my maximum rate. I played a few months with Goons and while hated by many and probably not accepting of many multiboxers, I had a lot of fun playing with other jackasses and would do it again if the advancement were tweaked. Pod jumping was not the answer.

I never reallly got into eve. Had enough isk to equip an entire fleet, but not enough skills to even fly one battleship. At first I really liked the time based skill learning system, until I had to learn the skills that take a month to complete...

I just started Eve again this weekend. I'm at 3 accounts right now - 2 miners and 1 hauler. I had some money left over from when I last played, I used that to purchase some cheap ships and whatever skills I needed.

I really hate the way you have to fly around to different stations to pick up items you bought. I think it took me an hour to pick up rocket launcher skill, rocket skill, rockets, 3 rocket launchers, 1 lazerr, lazerr ammo, then to rendezvous with my 2 other characters!

I got about 2 days before I can upgrade my miners and hauler to better ships because they'll finally learn new skills. Until then I wanna figure out exactly how many characters I plan on playing. Anyone have any suggestions? Even playing 3 characters I still found myself idling and watching TV. I'd really like to keep busy the entire time I play eve.

I ran into my first can flipper last night. He stole from it, then pretended to be all nice and message me asking if I was new. Then he said I could take it back, guess he was hoping I would take the ore back then he could blow my ships up. Luckily I read all about can flippers before I started and just warped outta there and found a nice empty ore field. Then about 10 minutes later another person messages me and said they took care of the thief. Heheh.

Yeah the pod jumping is just too slow to use it for switching play modes, only being able to change every 24 hours means that you just never bother.

I'm constantly amazed that EVE continues to prosper, I assume that because its the only game in the 'spaceships' genre it manages to retain people who would leave if there were _any_ other games out there.

The thing Eve has going for it that very few other games do is just how raw it is. No fancy teleporting items back and forth. No forgiveness for mistakes. Hardcore PvP. And a tough-shit-if-you're-scammed policy. It makes for a very wild west type atmosphere that is the absolute opposite of WoW.

Does keyclone's maximizer work wtih Eve online? I know passing keystrokes isnt going to do anything for me but i already own keyclone. if it will make the windows all nice for me thatd be nice. Im downloading the client now but not done for like 12 more hours, thought id ask.
