Default Comparitive analysis of Software- help

First of all, greetings. I've been lurking on these forums for a couple of weeks now, and finally took the plunge 2 days ago and now have a second account and have started fiddling around with the whole dual-box thing. Personally, I blame Youtube; I stumbled across a short vid of 5 gnome mages frostbolting the flora and fauna back to the stone age. A few google searches, and I trip into this site.

Well, my first attempts at D'boxing ( is it wrong that I keep referring to it, in my head, as Hot Boxing? ) have met with medium degrees of success. Both toons jump when I hit the space bar. Slave follows the master when I hit the 'follow' macro, things go kaboom when I hit the 'fireball' macro and so on.

The problem I am having so far is, I think, mostly software related. I'm currently using Auto Hot Keys...ughh. Ease of use and reliability seem to be up (down?) there with Windows 98. Installed it, blatantly plagarised someone else's script (well, less plagarism, more copied word for word...*whistles*) and thought I was good to go. Silly old me I've found the script needs reloading every 15 minutes or so, stutters and is, in general, a bit of a sod.

Can anyone give me any advice on, and reasons for, which software to try? An awful lot of people here seem to think Keylogger (?) is the way forward. Other sites indicate that it's not all that reliable when it comes to aftercare etc etc. Octopus doesn't seem to be kept current anymore.

I didn't expect this to be easy to get sorted out- nothing worthwhile ever is (hell, you should have seen my first attempts at skiing). I don't mind paying for software; the mentality of ' I can afford 2+ PC's, 2+ WoW accounts but can't afford software' is laughable. I just would like to draw on collected experiences and get things ship-shape from the word 'go'.

Lastly, people who make comments along the lines of 'L2play nubz' or 'L2script, Autokeyz da shiznit' are cordially invited to make love elsewhere :P Thanks in advance for any input folks.

Keylogger? I think Keyclone is the chappie I meant. Unless the software broadcasts key-presses to other accounts, helps with macros and steals my credit card details..

No software called Keylogger I'm afraid (that brings up so many negative connotations )

I personally would recommend you try keyclone.

the author provides great support (but it's so simple I've never needed it).
You can download it by clicking keyclone on the navigation bar at the top of this site - but will have to pay a $20 license fee.
    It's worth every penny.

No script configuration. Fairly easy to setup and it's almost invisible in action.
Did i mention that it's completely reliable too - I've never had a moments trouble from it.

There is a sticky I think in the new multiboxers section leading to a pdf that shows you how to set it up.

Welcome to multiboxing (hotboxing just sounds wrong to me )

Now that's just laughable. I don't use Keyclone right now because I need a different program to get EQ2 to work, but Rob {Keyclone} is insanely reliable. There's been more than a few times where I've needed my system updated in the middle of the night due to upgrades and Rob has sorted me out in less than a few hours. We're both in the same timezone, so middle of the night here is middle of the night for him, too. It's a great program and there's a reason that something like 70%+ of the people polled here use/d it.

Rob is also beyond helpful to people trying to get set up. So are Lax {InnerSpace} and Freddie {HotKeyNet}, though you might get faster responses through their sites directly. All these guys, as well as many posters here can either walk you through specific questions or point you to an appropriate FAQ...or, you know, that searching thingy on the top of the boards.

I've seen "other sites" try to bash the work of the people here, and lets just say I'm not using what they're selling for any number of reasons.

    Khatovar,

This is exactly the sort of response I was hoping for; clear, concise and validates what others have said. All I did at the start of my forays into multi-boxing was use good ol' Google and read the first 20 pages. Hindsight being what it is, I should have stopped on this site. But, like anything new, I tried getting information from a variety of sources.

Don't get me wrong, most of the posts and sites I've read praise Keyclone to the rafters. Wowinsider.com were less than impressed. Hence the questions. I put time and effort researching about what car I buy, which mouse is most suitable for me- software is no different.

Oh, and Shaeman- I love the idea of no scripts- this makes me a very happy chappy indeed

To hell with it- easiest way to find out is to give it a go i guess; twenty colonnial pounds isn't going to break the bank, and if I don't have to swear at scripts where's the downside?

Oh, and Khatovar- the little searchy box thingy; I've been using and abusing that for a while now. I'm only surprised I've not worn it out already...

    Thx for the responses gents.

The Wowinsider post I found tagged keyclone is actually not about keyclone at all, but about another program that...is not related in any way to Keyclone. I'll leave it at that.
