    Default Party ordering method changed in 3.1

    Just to let everyone know, the way wow arranges your party changed this patch. It used to arrange as self=f1, party1(leader always)=f2, and party2-4(f3-f5) would be arranged by age of the character, as in when it was created.

    Now it is simply by order of joining party. Self is still f1, leader is still always party1 or f2. party2-4 are in order of joining the party. So make sure to accept your group invites in the correct order to keep any odd macros you have working. I have to do this for my healing macros.

    I have my healing done via names luckily. Or that would be a pretty big hassle.

    So that's why I have to keep switching around my macros! I saw that it changed, but damned if I could figure out what the new method is.

    I made it so that any of my characters can be in any party slot just by switching around a macro and a variable, so this isn't a big deal for me, but now I just have to make sure I accept the group in the right order.

    I didn't notice this at first, since I invite my characters (two of them) at the same time and they're set to autoaccept, so it's a 50-50 shot they'll end up in the right order. My easy fix was to just add in a delay to my invite macro with the /in command thing that Ace gives you.

    I noticed this when I opened a trade window and it went to the wrong toon. I got lucky and I dont have any macros set by group position.

    Seems that even making a toon leave the group and reinviting does not change their position in the group.

    Most people seem to have macro's set up as one of these:

    target = focus
    target = party1
    or the FTL system

    In all of these, the toon to be assisted is easily found.
    And that toon targets whatever we want our slaves to end up targeting.

    I'm not sure why someone would have a heal and word it:
    /target [target=party3] Rejuvenation

    When they could word it just as easily:
    /target [target=Toon'sName] Rejuvention

    I use names also but for heals I press a number the corresponds with the party order to heal. So when the tank needs heals(leader) I press numpad1 which is target=tankname. When the 2nd person on the list needs heals I press numpad2 and thats target=toon2sname and so on. If the party order changes I might see the 3rd party member needs heals and press numpad3 but someone else gets the heal because now toon5 is actually in party3 position.

    By using party1-5 instead of a specific character name it lets you invite friends or new characters into your group and they will still get heals. If you only ever box with the same exact characters then of course using ToonName is best, but sometimes its nice to take a buddy into an instance to help him get a drop and show him how awesome multiboxing is, but it won't be so awesome if he dies because your macro doesn't target him

    Because we aren't always partied with the same exact players. I want to be able to drop out a player and add a friend in without having to change all my macros around. Now, I just have to switch two labels in HKN and I'm set.

    Now, when I'm only running my 4 shammies... I don't have to worry about it because it's just a straight FTL off the current main. I can't do that when I'm tanking.
