    Default Patching help

This is my first MB patch. What do I need to know? I have 5 Wow folders. Do I end up patching one and copying over the other 4?

More specifically, take the "patches" folder and copy it over to your other wow folders, then run each wow individually and let it update. This just preserves the individual settings and addons you might have set up within each folder.

I simply download the patch with one client. Blizz makes a registry entry pointing to that location so you don't have to copy them to the other directories. I just run the wow launcher one at a time from each folder and it patches from the single location.

What patch folder? Are you referring to the "Patch.MPQ" file inside your data folder? ... That's the only thing I can think of referring to patches

Sorry, I was referring to my own setup in XP. If you don't have a patches folder in your main Wow directory, my advice won't work for you! My blizz downloader put the files there. I'm not referring to anything in the Data folder.

There are different patching requirements between Xp and Vista.

in XP the patches are stored in the c:\program files\world of warcraft\patches folder

in Vista they are stored in c:\users\public\public documents\blizzard entertainment\world of warcraft

with my symlinked vista install I run the full update update on my main (and test to see if it works OK) and then copy the files whose dates have been modified today (in the wow root folder) to the symlinked directories.

I have the data folder and all the executables/dlls symlinked. I run my main who gets patched, and automagically all the slaves are patched too.
