Default Logitech G15 and Everquest 1

I see that EQ2 is supported on the G15 now. I play EQ1, boxing 6 accounts, and I'm wondering if picking up a G15 will benefit me.

I box 6 toons on 2 computers, using WinEQ2; 4 toons on computer 1 and 2 on computer 2. Eventually, I'll probably transfer the information over and box 3 accounts on each computer.

The biggest problem I have playing is locking down mobs initially. Getting it into camp, and having all toons engage and do their jobs (dps, slow, heal, etc). I'm not playing as efficiently as I could, since I can only focus on one toon at a time.

For example, I can autoattack on my rogue, but I lose dps (missed backstabs) while I'm slowing with the beastlord, healing with the cleric, etc. I have in-game macros set up which help a bit, but they're very limited in what they allow (pet attack, cast, delay, cast, delay, cast and I'm done).

Would the macro key allow macros to run on a background instance while I was focusing on an active instance? For example, could I keep the rogue backstabbing while I'm repositioning the warrior and taunting? Could my beastlord chain cast DDs when they refresh without my having to manually do it?

I couldn't find much information from EQ1 multiboxers using the G15, so I'm asking here.

Any advice whatsoever will be appreciated.

I'm not using a G15, but it sounds like you aren't using any sort of software/hardware to broadcast keystrokes.

I wanted to check that first before I try to "help".

    No, I'm not at all.

I was under the impression (I may be wrong), that you can't use Keyclone or similar with multiple instances of EQ1. That the input (keyboard and mouse) only applies to the active instance, if that makes sense, not the background instances. It works differently than WoW, although straight hardware multiboxing would work with a kvm switch.

I've been multiboxing EQ for probably 5-6 years now, but most of us older EQ multiboxers kinda made it up ourselves with whatever hardware we had...there weren't boards like this and WinEQ was really the only software available for a LONG time. Haven't tried anything different as I don't believe the WoW hardware/software solutions are compatible with EQ. It's either WinEQ or straight hardware.

There's not wealth of information on EQ multiboxing, nothing near the information that WoW has available...unless I'm looking in the wrong places...

Innerspace gives the ability to Lock Foreground on all the instances under its control. So that means you can send keystrokes to all of your instances or only some of them when you push certain keys.

Since you already have WinEQ, I believe you can use Innerspace under the same subscription. Please take a look at the EQ2 and Innerspace thread I started. Even though it is specific to EQ2, most of it applies to any game. ISBoxer is the best thing since sliced jello.

Yep, give Innerspace with ISBoxer a try. I used it to 2-box EQ1 recently without ISBoxer, but with Windowsnapper.

I dunno, I use the g1-g6 keys to jump between my different distances of wineq. i.e. g1 does a keystroke of ctrl +alt+1 to bring up main account, and g6 does ctrl+alt+6. Works just dandy for me.

Coming soon: 12 Box Team then 18 box Team and maybe if I'm crazy enough, 24 Box.

With Innerspace you don't have to change windows. You stay focused on the main window and you can send your keystrokes to the slaves using keymaps. This is much more effective than what you are doing, which is essentially a glorified alt-tab. You should really check it out.

Hmmm, I'll have to read up on it. WinEQ2 is a big help already. :P EQPlayNice helps my pc run better, lol.
